Qantas FF and Woolworths create new loyalty alliance

I just signed my brothers up for the free QFF membership and it has a note that says membership cards won't be sent until points are earned.

Woolies staff and their partners were able to begin accruing points from the 1st June.
It took 48 hours for the QF FF points to be updated, whereas the Fuel Saver Offers were updated almost immediately.

Have attached a copy.

Silly question but can you swipe any Everyday Rewards card at the check out or does it have to be your own. How would they know it is not your card anyway?

Yes, and no they wouldn't know. It's just a generic card.

Each everyday rewards card has a barcode, and that barcode differentiates each card I'm sure. So, swiping someone else's would mean they'd get the points, not you.

If you're suggesting making your own cards with the same barcode, good luck. I'd imagine it's possible.

Note though, if you lose your card, they want you to get another one and un-register the old one, registering the new number/barcode. They don't send replacement cards.

Interesting question. No of course they wouldn't know, they is no name or photo on the card, so they ain't checking.

But the interesting bit, was that this got me thinking, as you do, about the potential to create a new ID using these rewards programs. Basically, I can now get an EDR card, but also a QF frequent flyer ID, in a name of my choice for free. Is that a start? probably not, but good secondary and tertiary items for a second ID.

My pet bird and fish both have their own cards.

All done for the good of the family when the card was launched and 10cent fuel vouchers were included and they wanted to play their part;)

Maybe I should get them QF Memberships for free too????

I hardly see how that'd help, unless bonus points come along that can only be earned once per card. Even then, I can't imagine they'd be that high.

Though here's hoping they have an opening week offer. Some big bonus to get signed up straight away would be good. :D

I was actually suggesting that my mother, father and brother all use my Everyday Rewards card linked to my QFF account when shopping at Woolworths or Big W. They would still have their own individual Everyday Rewards cards with their own QFF number. Hey if it is free why not get one?

Living alone in Brisbane and commuting to work by train I hardly spend more than $20, difficult to carry too many bags at once and I only have small fridge, so I will be wasting my time using my card. My parents on the other hand spend ~$150 a week, sometimes more, shopping at Woolworths.

I know it is only ~6,000 QFF points a year so it is no big deal but if all they had to do was swipe a card then this should be no problem. It would be much better if they were interested in using a supplementary card attached to my Amex credit card but it is hard convincing them. My father is slowly coming around but mum is the stumbling block....

But each EDR card has a different number and barcode.

And you can't link your QFF to multiple cards.

Without producing multiple cards with the same barcode and number (essentially cheating), you'd have to physically give the card to them before they make a purchase, and if someone didn't have the card on them, they'd be in trouble.

Maybe I'm missing something here.

Surely your pet bird can already fly for free

Mrs NM and I each have an Everyday Rewards Card we carry in our wallet/purse. Then we have one that lives in each car. All linked. That way there is always a card in the car for whoever is filling up to be able to get the fuel discount.

So the question is whether QF FF points earning is tied to the individual card that is swiped at the checkout or if its linked to the linked group of cards so swipe any of the linked cards and the points go to the QF FF account linked to the primary card?

No question at all ...

You need to log on to each individual card's account code to assign the QFF number.

Note the account code is not the card number; it is that code which is provided upon registering a new card.

One of the questions in the FAQ addresses this point (although the FAQ doesn't seem to work for me ATM).

Basically, linking is a way of sharing fuel vouchers, and does not extend to QFF point earning.

For the QFF points, one Everyday Rewards card can link to one QFF account

Yes definitely linking cards does not work for QFF points.Just to make sure mrsdrron did an online contact and the reply was quite definite. So I will have to accumulate a few more QFF points when our desire is to have as many as possible go to her.

Sorry for not being clear.

I was actually suggesting that my mother, father and brother all sign-up for their own individual Everyday Rewards cards and since QFF membership is free then get them all their own QFF account. Hey if it is free why not get one? Their Everyday Rewards then get stored away in a safe place.

I leave my Everyday Rewards card at home in Sydney and my mother, father and brother all take my Everyday Rewards card linked to my QFF account whenever they go shopping at Woolworths or Big W....

Twas only a joke...;)

However it will be useful for my kids who rarely have paid QF flights and so this will make it easy to keep their accounts active when points are less than the transfer rate minumum.
