Qantas FF and Woolworths create new loyalty alliance

I also got the email and I have received ~650 QFF points so far. Should be >1,000 QFF points after yesterday's shopping.

Now this does not have anything to do with Qantas but when I went to get petrol in Sydney last week there was no way for the person at Woolworths petrol to determine what fuel offers I had on the Everyday Rewards card. He said to me it was all automatic with the oldest fuel offer used first. What if I have higher fuel savings with recent purchases but still have lower fuel offers with older purchases that are not expired how do I access the new offers?

In my experience in using 20c off vouchers through the liquor shop, the highest value 'voucher' goes to the top - so you use it first.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Thanks. That sounds like a reasonable solution.

Personally, being a computer developer and a customer, I would have thought that an option to choose which fuel offer to use would not have required too much extra work. So if I only want to purchase 20L of fuel today use the 4c off offer but if I want to purchase 100L of fuel then use the 20c off offer....

I had an offer to spend $55 on products from "the meat Department (not the Deli)" to get a 9¢ discount.

It was made very clear in the offer email and the subsequent confirmation that the Highest available discount "e-voucher" is used at the time your everyday card is presented.

So my next fill at a Caltex/Safeway Fuel station will have a 9¢ per litre discount applied - unless it is after the date that voucher expires or I have a better offer.

The FAQ's have the answer

Can I change the order in which I use my fuel e-vouchers?

No, the order of fuel e-vouchers is automatic. The system automatically redeems the highest value fuel e-voucher first then the oldest fuel e-voucher.

This ensures that you receive the benefit of the maximum fuel saving first but may result in an earlier e-voucher expiring

Big W has 12 cent prints for the next few days.

I have just come back home to get a few hundred photos to print :mrgreen:

A cool 240 Qantas FF points from these photos at 12cents each as well :mrgreen:

Well, that was convenient. I had to do a little bit of shopping over the weekend for my trip next week.

And I bought some music CDs from BigW for the first time in years. And they turned out to be cheaper than buying them in a music shop or something. Go figure.

Hurrah for stuff.

The FAQ's have the answer

Yes they do...

But I have the solution ;)

As a family we have 5 cards..3 for my daughters.

If I want to "quarantine" an offer I use one of my daughter's cards.

For example the recent 40 cent discount is on one card...and I will only use that at Caltex when I refill the Pajero (plus my chainsaw and lawn mower cans combined), as the Pajero's tank is twice the capacity of the Honda. In the meantime I will use "my" card to refill the Honda.

240 *( 2 to 4 cents per point) - cost of petrol (if not a company car) = value gained (ignoring time).

Very good equation there :p

I actually got 2000 photos printed as I had heaps I needed from past events and the like

480 points

Petrol $2 to get home and back

:mrgreen:

That would only work if you don't link your cards, but I guess you know that.

Umm, My solutiopn when having a big fuel vocher is to take my 2 jerry cans and the lawn mower tins down next time I fill up the "honda" then I don't have to stuff around with difference cards. Or more importantly stuff around SWMBO with different cards. :D

Hi

Being a bit lazy now but I haven't received any 500 point bonus for linking Woolworths cards together.

Can someone summarise the criterial to qualify for 500 bonus points per card linking (from memory).

Many thanks

I used extra cans too.

I only burden SWMBO with the one card and i look after the other 4.

If a later promo comes out limiting points per cardmember they will come in handy. They have already earnt an extra 1500. :)

And as mentioned they are already handy for "managing" any bonus fuel offers.

Neither. You could try phoning them up and asking about the bonus.

When the cheapest local (350km from Perth) petrol is more than 20c / liter than the Perth prices, you get used to using jerry cans. Diesel is 10-12c dearer.

The only real issue is that even with the 4c / liter discount Woolies is often NOT the least expensive fuel. But then that is one of the reasons I found the arguments against country-wide FuelWatch misplaced.

I don't go seriously (ie less than 1km) out of my way, but I do check to see which of the stations on the way out of Perth does have the bargains and/or whether I need to buy a day ahead.

But then I suspect most of the AFF members tend to be more in the bargain hunter category than the general public...:rolleyes:

Notice how the fractions of points work?

Eligible Spend of 50.56 gives 20 points.

Spend of 48.83 gives 18 points.

Spend of 60.97 gave 61 points.

Therefore, the barrier from one point to the next isn't 50, like a normal number, but higher than .83 and less than or equal to 97. Very odd.

One would assume that .98 or .99 would be round up as well so probably only need to say that it is > 0.83.

Anyone able to narrow this threshold down more. I haven't really, kept track that closely.

I'd put money on it being anything above 0.95. However I'm not going to calculate my shopping down (or up) to that to check. :p

Well here's mine:

186.36 --> 156
133.00 --> 103 + 103 (bonus points) = 206
43.75 --> 13
82.00 --> 52
63.89 --> 33
83.18 --> 53
105.44 --> 74

So 0.89 doesnt get you there for a point.

I've nopticed Amex round variously up and down so that it averages out correctly to the total statement balance when they're allocating their half poins on my platinum, i wonder if this works in a similar way (or they just rip you off the point(s))? Either way, we're generally talking very few points over the course of a year. If you shopped every day for a year and lost out every single time (seems unlikely), you'd be down 365 points.
