Re: Dan Murphy's limited promotion 30/11 - 24/12

Sorry i deleted my post as i realised that you already provided all the information. I should try reading properly

Wine purchase, time to pick up some grange and hopefully champers is considerd to be wine as well.

I've got a few wine purchases (and hopefully the fortifieds ccome under this banner) to make for christmas.

Re: Dan Murphy's limited promotion 30/11 - 24/12

The Dan's offer in The Age today was:

*for a limited time only (ie no point at all afterwards)

* for wine purchases only....so your little old ladies are going to be unhappy :-|

That sucks somewhat. I guess they’ll be looking at the numbers after this promotional period. Lets hope they decide to open it all up. The email just arrived for me:

This festive season earn Qantas Frequent Flyer points when you buy all your favourite wines at Dan Murphy's. Hurry into your nearest Dan Murphy's store to make the most of this great opportunity - offer ends Christmas Eve!

On a different note, haven’t seen any greater-than-4¢ fuel discount offers for a while. Has anyone else? It’s as if cheap fuel has taken a backseat to QF points earning. :(

They are around. This week $15 worth of Gillette products in one transaction gets you a 15c off per litre voucher. Last week a 1 kilo tim of Milo got you a 10c off per litre. (*In PRV at least)

Surely it's going to be at every Woolworths group store...

Checking my email this morning saw an email from Woolworths

Just a reminder about the "win 500 Qantas points promotion"

:evil::evil::evil:

Worst promotion EVER, 500 QFF points... Seriously................

To those of us who earn upwards of 100k points per month, not so good, but to mum and dad shoppers who might earn 100 points per week it is not too bad.

Oh, might have to look around. Don’t know how I’ve managed to miss them. Perhaps they’re just not sending me the emails anymore so I have to actually keep my eyes peeled.

I don't think that they email all offers.

Many are just in the weekly catalogue.

I became aware of the Gillette one via ozbargains

I believe the promos are personalised based on past purchasing history and products the suppliers want to promote etc. So different people will receive different promotions.

I agree! Woolworths would be paying Qantas around 1 cent per point. That is a prize of approx $5 per week at Woolies expense per store. Woolies quote up to 4 cents per week but I love to know how you can get the value from my QF points. Surely a prize of 50 000 points would be the min I would expect per store per week. This is the busiest time of year. Do not forget you can only get one entry per card per day.

Woolies can chose the promotions they wish. 500 points is fine as an extra in each store across the continent for the next 4 weeks. Could be zero!

I am grateful to have points via Woolies and BWS and Big W as i havent had to change my shopping but i get points now that i didnt plus they pay the joining fee.

Maybe i'm not into greed?? Over 12months Woolies will give me approx 22000 points i didnt have before so i'm happy and if i jag 500 extra hey that'd be good too.

But the 500 points are costing Woolworths approx $5. I think $5 is a weak prizeat one per store. You cannot buy a jar of coffee for $5.

Well, you are spending $450 per week / $23,000 a year there. I guess some reward is worthwhile. However, 500 extra points won't do much for the person who doesn't fly much/get many points, and it won't do much for the person with huge balances either. Sure, it's still better than nothing, but if you remember the 1000 base credit for a flight, and buying that for say $100, it's only worth $50 of value. Hard to say a prize of that magnitude justifies the promotion effort being made, given the low chance of winning.

springaussie,

Welcome to AFF.

As they say, the value is what it is to the individual. I just picked some random dates for a MEL-LAX-MEL trip. The best business fare was $6911 and the best PE was $3552. Allow 90,000 points for the upgrade (45,000 each direction) and the points value comes in at 3.73 cents per point. If I had tried to optimise this it would have been considerably better and I have done considerably better in the past.

I hope that answers your question.

Yes, it will be at every group store, provided that the store is a Dan Murphy's. :p

That comment was about the limited time only promo at Dan Murphy's

Yes! Thanks for that.

I need some more razors anyway, so that worked out well. It's 15c+the standard 4c, to make 19c.

I just got an email about my 12 days of rewards

To say thanks for a great year, we're bringing you something really special this Christmas. For the next 12 days, we'll be giving away some amazing prizes in our 12 Days of Rewards promotion, plus you could also WIN groceries for a year! Surprises await you so read on.

It seems I have to go to a website every day to check for prizes. I haven't bothered looking into it further, as then I'd probably have to find the account details and password. But will look eventually.

Are these offers individually targeted? I have not received a discount fuel offer snce the 20c off in July.

I won a draw into petrol for a year and groceries for a year. Why do they waste people's time with these silly promotions?

Funny that, me too. They waste our time with this stuff to get cheap marketing information. Really, I can't see the point of not entering - I might get free petrol, with just about zero effort. Many people are probably the same and they now have info about me. They know I don't delete my emails from them automatically, they know my day time email address and I'm sure they'll get more out of me over the next 12 days. ;)
