Oh no, my current employer is great in that regard. Have never heard of a leave request being turned down in 4 years I've been there..

My employer is extremely brilliant - self-approved leave.

On wait, Superannuation is like that

More issues with the year 12er than anything else

I do not totally agree entirely with your comment, I was a business owner and would suggest that QF made more money out of me through flight changes so I could could meet client commitments. I also have a child so I plan around school holidays, in my opinion it a balance between business owner time, revenue, and family commitments is a balance only you can decide.

As an employee you have entitlements, if your current employer is taking advantage of the rules or treating you like a slave go elsewhere. It may sound scary but it may also be the best thing you ever do. When I had staff I never knocked back staff leave requests no matter how long or short notice was given. Temp replacement staff are available.
My eldest daughter is a Dr ( Senior registrar) and rosters at the hospital are generally done 4 to 6 weeks out and she never knows whether her leave is approved until then. She can’t get award flights and generally pays high dollars for everything. Doesn’t stop her travelling every time she gets some leave, but it’s just a reality for her and all her doctor friends.

Not sure if anyone else has posted this, but according to this QF YT video AirNZ, China Airlines, Bangkok Air, and KLM/AF are going to be added as partners to use points (unsure if that was already existing):

Read our AFF credit card guides and start earning more points now.

Interesting! This would be great news, though it depends to what extent you can use points on AF/KLM.

Just released on June 18th and they mention "Classic Flight Rewards" so maybe they won't be overhauled so much?

You can already use QFF points for China Airlines, only to Taipei, they could be expanding on that though.

Looks like you can now use points plus pay for the taxes/surcharge component of an award seat, so some of those rates on the 'Where can I go chart' include the points amount to reduce the taxes/surcharges to zero.

eg PER-SIN (using Jetstar as the cheapest example)

Classic Reward shows 40,000 points plus $229.41, with the option to reduce the taxes/surcharges with points.

However, on the 'Where can I go' page, if you uncheck the Classic Reward checkbox and you select the POINTS box (next to the MONEY option), it will show up as 68,800 points. The additional 28,800 points reduces the Taxes, fees and carrier charges to Nil, if you use the points plus pay slider at the booking page.

An option for some if they want a totally 'Free' flight

ok so I've been told some of the changes by someone in the know, and since I'm not affiliated or bound to anything, here's a few whispers to help alleviate the speculation until tomorrow.

Yes there's both good news and the bad. Redemptions rates are going up for premium cabins, upgrades too. Carrier charges are going down, though still significant.

There will be a new tier that everyone is waiting for, which will be extremely hard to attain... and there will be even more new tiers that no-one will be expecting.... something different indeed.

New partner to use points as one of you just found. Oneworld awards are saved from the axe.

That's all for now, the full details will make themes themselves known tomorrow.

There are no new tiers being announced tomorrow.

Something else that won't be announced tomorrow, but is apparently in the works, is award redemptions on TK.

So why is AFF having a temporary shut down from 1000 hours Thursday morning for upgrades to the site?

Not really! But let's hope the site doesn't crash with the traffic.

.

Then for goodness sakes, they need to open up inventory supply so more of the heavy demand can be accommodated. (While they would say but you can use Points plus pay, the redemption rate is disappointingly poor ESPECIALLY if you’ve already spent oodles of cash earning the points)

It’s strange though that there still seems to be no recognition the FF members have actually paid for the points they earn.

In simple terms Say i buy 9 coffees and my loyalty is rewarded with the 10th free.
If I’m lucky to find a place where buy 6 get the 7th free. Great for me
NOW if the 9 coffees are $4 each and the 6 coffees are $5 each, the redemption rate is slightly better even if I spent more and to that degree thsts how it ought be.

PS business owners are already in the box seat on this as customer income so to speak pays the bills and in paying those bills. They receive a stack of FF points on spending the customers dime.... I also suspect those generous credit card offers are about buying intelligence on spending patterns...
