Flew back on this one, interior wasn't noticeably bad, unlike the 747:

Yes I suppose so, though I'm struggling to think. A museum somewhere maybe? The Smithsonian? Maybe over at Rex. But yes you are probably right.
A 22 year old well maintained aircraft is not an issue.

I do agree that quite a few could do with some cosmetic overhauls though.

That is actually for security, as there is a lot of removable panels where things could be placed/hidden. not part of holding it together :)

Exactly. The new reconfigured 747s have them as well - it isn't holding the interior together

A few pages back, someone asked how you tell with plane you flew one (especially at night when you cannot see the rego numbers from the terminal window).

I flew SYD-PER on QF583 (delayed 19.20 which left nearer 20.30 due a late plane arrival) last Thursday 8th of March.

I got the name off the nose (Tamar Valley) but have no idea the VH-??? It was a 330-200 and I like the USB port next to the next seat screen in cattle class:D.

Does anyone have a list of which rego's have which name?

Cheers

Chris

NB: 6 days in NSW and saw more rain than in the last 9 months in Perth!!

The Qantas source website is a great spot to find out what plane you have flown on.The QANTAS Source - QANTAS Flight Tracker.Enter QF583 into the box and away you go.Greg.

VH-EBM! This site does not appear to have been updated for a while, but unless QF is swapping regos/names then the plane names and regos can be matched here.

This site, on the other hand, is being kept up to date, but you have to dig a bit deeper for the info.

VH-OJF left yesterday for LAX on a one way journey, bringing the active 747 fleet down to 21.

As you enter look up at the top of the door and there is a metal plaque with the rego. Then you can tell your partner the history of the plane via google and she will quickly demonstrate how interested she is.

That isn't on all aircraft. You will see it on a 737. I don't recall seeing it on a 767 though, but then the door opens differently too.

I remember seeing it on a -ZX 767 possibly on the wall on the left hand side as you enter the aircraft

I've only notice the door plates in 737s. 734s also have the last 2 letters of the rego on the wall near the forward toilet.

my 767 the other day definitely had a plaque, it was further outside than the 737, and the writing was tiny. I didn't see a rego but presumed it was there. I was reluctant to ask for a stepladder given the looks I was getting from the CC (and my wife).

It's definitely easy to read on a 737 and I saw it on a little Airbus, but it might have been easier to read on the outside of the plane, I can't remember

The rego is on the outside, and the last two letters of the rego is also on the nose wheel cover and the top of the tail:

I was wondering... everytime Qantas get a new 738 it's been given a rego in a logical, chronological order. But now that we're up to -VZZ, what's next? The only logical rego I can think of is VH-WAA - ?

A look on the aircraft register shows WAA is taken. XZA, B and C have been registered and a look on google shows they haven't been delivered. So that should be the registration on the next 3 738s
