I do wonder if you can use a number of these together. It doesn't explicitly say either way.

I noticed they've used bold for Surcharges, fees and taxes apply to all fares. These must be paid with a credit card by the recipient when they redeem the Gift Voucher so it doesn't look like you can escape the QF CC charge for a booking.

From Qantas gift vouchers | Give the gift of experience

Qantas does not charge a Card Payment fee on Gift Voucher purchases or redemptions.

I wonder too if more than 1 voucher can be used at the time of booking. Because if not, buying 20 x $50 vouchers would mean you need to buy 20 flights.

I'm not exactly sure what they mean by "If more than one voucher recipient, all recipients must redeem and travel together", but I'm suspecting maybe that's a way to stop you using multiple vouchers??

Suppose got a couple of weeks to decide if to buy.

Yes, you can select up to nine recipients. However, the voucher must be wholly redeemed for one itinerary so the recipients must redeem and travel together.

Looks like you can buy a voucher for up to 9 people all travelling on the same itinerary. Still don't know if you can use multiple vouchers on one booking though... still looking...

BTW whats the largest denomination you can get? it really doesnt make sense being so small....
One reason is clear as you can see most on AFF have already gone into overdrive working out how to milk the system.

:D Suits commuters perfectly! :p

Still a few points unclear

- Assuming credit card surcharges on bookings are waived when redeeming a voucher so if paying for a $75 flight with a $50 voucher then use the $50 voucher and pay $25 with credit card avoiding the $7.70 credit card surcharge?
- If purchasing vouchers for oneself how does one get around the fact where the buyers details and the recipient's details are the same? These are supposed to be gift vouchers for friends and family.

i just bought a cert for myself. and there is no card fee when i made a booking.

You've never bought a gift for yourself before?? ;)

Given that you are asked for the number of passengers, and that determines how many vouchers you get I would suggest 1 voucher per person.

The vouchers are available for up to $500 per person and nine people per voucher so that should give more options. Everybody on the one voucher must travel together.

How do you calculate how much will be for the flight and how much for the tax if you are buying with a particular flight in mind?

It's Christmas time. I'm sure SWMBO would gladly buy you some vouchers for work. She'll probably pocket the QFF points too .

Then she'll have enough QFF points to do some travel with you. Win WIn

Just running through a few scenarios in my mind - any thoughts on using it on a JASA (or YASA)? I guess there is no hope of using them on domestic J* flights? Also what is the definition of a multi city flight - is that where you choose to stop over? Just put SYD - FCO into return flight and it comes up as

Will I still earn miles for the flight?

So if I buy a $2000 return flight to Europe using the voucher, I will earn 20k miles for the voucher plus 40k miles for the flight (assuming double miles)?

Yes, unless you are booking staff travel or industry tickets which are always excluded.

You will be also restricted by the maximum voucher amount which is $500, IIRC. You can only use one voucher per booking. [-]So maximum of 5000 points from the voucher.[/-] I think this is wrong as you can have multiple people per voucher. Further post below.

Can buy 5000 QFF top up points for $182.50 or pay $500 with this promo and get 5000 points, am I missing something?.View attachment 4947

* You can use the $500 voucher for actual travel on Qantas (and earn more points).

* When using the voucher, you pay taxes, fees and any outstanding amount without paying a credit card processing fee.

Qantas are simply trying to sell seats on flights over the next 12 months. You buy a voucher and you make a commitment to make at least one booking.

Money in the bank for Qantas....

you can't use a voucher for a ASA ticket. (not online anyway)

So between the promo price of say $500 for 5000 points and buying extra 5000 top points is $317.60 difference its still better to get the promo.
