The FAQs state the following:-

If I have a sustainable stay booked but I cancel my booking last minute, will I still receive recognition towards my Green tier status? Your sustainable stay at an eco-accredited hotel will count towards your Green tier status three to four days after you have checked out. Therefore, if you cancel your stay it will not be recognised towards Green tier status.

If you are asking if you can book and cancel but still get a green leaf I would think it is unlikely based on the above. Whether you will still get a green leaf if you book, pay but don't cancel, and just don't turn up really I suppose depends on whether the hotel/booking agent reports back to Qantas or not.

Just on the App quiz, the other quizzes in app seem to re-appear regularly. - tire check, blood pressure check etc. I was assuming this might be the same, just a matter of waiting a few months.

I just booked four domestic flights and purposely selected different options to see what happens:

* Booked flight with cash and offset during booking with cash

* Booked flight with cash and offset during booking with points

* Booked flight with classic reward and offset during booking with cash

* Booked flight with classic reward and offset after booking with points

In all cases no leaf was instantly applied. In the first 3 cases, I received an email confirmed the carbon offset had been successfully applied. I didn’t receive this for the 4th case however.

The T&C’s state the leaf will be applied after 7 days from booking so will see later in the week if this happens.

As an additional data point, when I booked a flight with cash and offset during booking with points last year, the leaf was applied as soon as the booking was confirmed.

On Day 7 now since booking these flights and still no leaf. Hopefully overnight!

The noteworthy benefits are 50SC or 10,000 FF points.

That would be my assumption as well. I think it said something like you could earn a maximum of 200 points per year with the quiz (100 points at a time), therefore I would expect it to appear at 6 month intervals.

If it doesn't, or if people are unable or unwilling to wait and see if it resets there is the workaround suggested earlier in the thread to get this leaf.

Out of curiosity, has anyone “recently” booked a flight with offset and received the leaf within 24 hours? Or are those days gone now?

(Despite the mentioned “7 days” mentioned in the T&C’s which doesn’t seem accurate anyways)

Yes, and yes. Paid flight and paid the few dollars for offset. I didn’t particularly notice how soon the leaf appeared, but within a couple of days.

I got my offset leaf straight away with my first year of Green tier. No such luck with second year.

For some people yes, because it resets with your membership year.

I just checked my QF account and apparently I am green tier through to Jul 23. I suspect it just rolled over as part as normal status and is nothing more than a QF scheme to get you to spend money.

IMO outside of the original 10K points the green scheme is of little or no value.

Digital recognition - who cares.
Exclusive events - never been invited to anything.
Green bonus - sure looked at these but you pay a premium for that bonus that maybe not worth the cost.
Choose a bonus reward - for 10K points or 50SC it is hardly worth the effort.

Choose a bonus reward - for 10K points or 50SC it is hardly worth the effort.

I got 50SC for about $30 (exact figure posted somewhere in this thread) the first time around. Well worth the effort if that is the difference between membership tier levels.

I just got my 50sc and i "do not own a car" and "do" reside in Tasmania, i also ofset an upcoming flight and got the reward pre flight.

the positive side in my case is qantas business rewards have given me the points for offsetting... lol
