Qantas Green frequent flyer tier

Currently a 15% off points sale at Qantas Marketplace and able to apply on "Offset your home and car" and "Green Tier charities" purchases
Seems to be available on climate positive delivery but not any of the charities, unless a promo code is needed?

Is it still possible to offset existing bookings with cash? I seem to only be able to do so with points on the manage my bookings page.

only points, I believe - and the last three I've tried have stalled at the "request submitted" stage ... so I think I'll do a paid offset as part of my next booking as I've only got that one leaf to go

I was able to submit a request a couple of weeks ago but nothing ever happened. No points were deducted. I've already flown so I don't think it will ever get processed.

Yes, it’s safest to “pay” at time of original booking, either cash or points but at least $1 (or the points equivalent) for the leaf to appear automatically. You receive seperate invoices for the flight (e-Ticket) and for the paid offset. The leaf should appear ~48hrs later - independent of the future date of the flight. Similarly, the points earn on the offset (if paying cash) should post about the same time as the leaf.

I’m in the habit of paying for an offset on the first SYD-MEL (return) booking for the year (which could be weeks or months into the member year), and get that leaf out of the way. The rest can be done in one day.

Does anyone know if it is possible to just offset one part of your booking ie if I’m flying MEL-SYD-SIN-LHR, can I just offset the MEL-SYD leg?

Only reason I had to attempt to offset retrospectively was because I was doing the part-payment gift voucher trick to avoid credit card surcharge. I'm guessing since that's really a blank PNR which is later modified to "add" a flight, that's why the retrospective paid-by-points offset fails.

Great idea getting one offset out of the way first thing in a year, I'm going to steal your trick :D

I was recently able to complete the CO2 offset using points on an existing booking - which was made some months ago using flight credit. I paid for the offset using only QFF points, and 2 days later the green leaf has arrived!

Is it weird I am as amazed as I am that this actually worked?!

Cheers,
Matt.

(p.s. used Chrome on a PC to do this)

I have only seen options for all or nothing. Back in the day you could buy an offset not tied to a booking but that seems to be no more

It’s supposed to work but reading through this thread, it’s a bit hit and miss on a retro offset 🤷‍♂️.

I’ve tried it once or twice and they never stuck. Didn’t bother trying to chase because I’ve subsequently booked a triangle route (return) and paid cash (which is probably the min $ to get the leaf).

I have just been given my option to select my reward today. I wonder if there has been some sort of new batch processing they do at the end of the month now for renewing green tier. (Anniversary is end of Feb).

Edit: 50 SC selected and now credited. Oh I had achieved the renewal probably a couple of months ago.

Can confirm it is possible to do the leaf offset after the first flight in a PNR has commenced. Works on a simple return (you pay only half the points to offset), or would be useful if the last flight on your booking was a short sector.

Was this your second or third year as Green?

EDIT: Never mind, though i have no email it looks like the year two reward void has been fixed. I requalified in Aug at the start of my membership year, was denied the rewards until now.

Found this clicking through from app - my account - green tier:

Update on my GT. I emailed when it was clear that I would not receive a reward despite only receiving a reward in 2022 when I qualified for GT. After a few emails I was offered the reward and chose the 50SC.

Yesterday however I received an email congratulating me on achieving GT despite having done so a few months ago, in this email I was also offered the reward again. Clicking through shows it is indeed available for selecting.

Couldn't make this up.

I also received this email, but no option to select the award (I already received it by calling up a few months ago)
