Qantas international Economy Class meals

The snack bags ate back? They are certainly needed on all flights over 10 hours at least....
They are pre set on certain flights, but not back in the sense of when they were handed out after the first service. I believe it is only DFW and SCL.

Has anyone seen a kids meal on a long haul flight recently? I'm curious to know what they get, because the offering on the CHC flight was abysmal.

Kung Pao chicken on QF1 last MondayIMG_1163.jpeg

Really enjoyed this. The chicken was nice and tasty, the rice delicious, and the garlic bread was amazing

Chicken rice on QF292 last night.

While it has nothing on the Singapore Hawker Centres, a solid meal all up. I had already downed (and loved) the garlic bread, and the cake was nice and moist.

Why is the only separation from our food and a filthy tray table (cleaned once per CEO term) a thin paper napkin?

Why can’t we have a plate and a tray?

QF127 SYD-HKG, 10.15am departure

Before lunch we got a choice of drinks and a snack.

Three lunch choices - menu was available on the IFE:

They'd run out of the chicken before getting to my row so I had the tofu, which was nice.

A flight attendant came around with a snack basket during the middle of the flight containing cookies and soy crisps, and there were a few water runs.

The two dinner choices 1:45 before landing were beef with black bean sauce & rice or ravioli. I had the ravioli which was also pretty good.

Identical economy service on yesterday’s QF29. I had the Kung Pow Chicken and it wasn’t bad at all. Had a decent kick to it.

I also had the ravioli. For comparison…

It wasn't at exactly the same time, but a different flight attendant came through the aisle with ice creams about three minutes after I got the main course.
They came around with ice creams after the mains had all been collected (which seemed sensible), but it’s fair to say they’d been stored for a decade in liquid nitrogen. Of course I’d prefer frozen to liquified, but there’s frozen and then there’s arctic glacier!!! 🥶

Overall service on QF29 was very good - multiple passes for snacks/water throughout the flight and efficient meals services. I requested a coffee and water a bit before dinner and the crew returned with both plus a TimTam (“…because coffee is always better with one.” ;)).

QF 93 yesterday
Starter was a pack of cracker, dip and veggie sticks.

Mains were a plant based option, chicken couscous salad, and a beef casserole.

Kids got a chicken and veg plus a bag with a juice box, pack of chips and pack of sultanas. Chicken went uneaten and my taste test of it agreed 🤮
Followed up with a Bulla ice cream stick.

Mid flight snack was a warm chicken ciabatta, kids got a meat pie (full size and apparently not very nice).

Breakfast was yoghurt, muffin and fruit salad or scrambled eggs. Kids was also eggs but with a blueberry muffin, two fruits tub and juice box.

Certainly no lack of food on the flight with multiple snacks provided overnight. They really need to work in their offerings for kids though, both meals went untouched and honestly a simple Mac and cheese would be far better received.

Flew home from Singapore on QF2 economy.
Both the beef burgundy and chicken dish contain fish sauce, which I am anaphylatic to.
I had to ask the FA, she didn't know and said I'm sure they don't. I asked her to check and she had to go away and check and said I could eat neither.
Why do they have to enhance everything with fish sauce?

Note to self. Bring a nice sandwich

Talking of sandwiches.

I seem to recall in my early flying days some 55-60 years ago......when dad was a pilot, we used to fly all over the place on 80-90% discount tickets.

I think it was Aer Lingus that had the most amazing ham sandwiches!

I find Qantas Domestic in particular seems hell bent on making things too complicated with its economy meals.
Fancy organic muffins with 33 hand picked ingredients made in the hills above Byron Bay by Buddhist Monks......kind of stuff.

Rather have a nice sandwich please.........

Dinner on QF125 BNE-AKL on 2 Jul. Moroccan chicken, definitely an improvement on our last trip last year.
Trip over had the beef and the MD had the chicken, but didn't take photos. They were also quite good.

I know - this is not QF food but maybe - if QF staff reads this - but of an inspiration. This is the Y food served on JAL 712 from SIN to NRT a couple of days ago. Puts QF at shame I guess 🙈🙈🙈
