Qantas Platinum One experiences?

I agree 100% with this. I don't think anyone regardless of status should be able to "fly ahead" and displace a passenger from their allocated seat.

I'm not P1 of course but if I do become one I would not want this to happen on my behalf.
I have no respect for anyone who thinks it is their God given right to displace anyone with a seat allocated already. And I don't care how much money they spend.

I don't think pax have the power to do that even if they want to and I hope no CSA would agree to relocate someone after they already checked-in, even if the person asking is a mighty important CL.

As mentioned in another thread - this has happened to me. QF1 F, the CL was John ONeil .... checked in at BNE and got peddled a tall tale of a faulty seat when entering SYD Flounge. I've no doubt the same dastardly tactics are used when shafting J passengers into whY at LAX when it suits them ;)

Were you downgraded to J?

No way! I accepted their claim that the seat was faulty and moved to 1K (was 3K) got on board to see the JO happy as a pig in mud in 3K ... his wife (assumed) was sitting in 3F. The seat didn't look like it had many faults ... IFE worked, the bed was flat and the seat worked fine for take-off and landing.

Can you believe they moved a WP so that a CL could take one for the team and sit in a faulty seat  LOL and some people think QF never tell lies!

BTW If they asked - I would have moved.

Forgive my ignorance but is 3K better then 1K? I can't understand why the CL would prefer that seat, especially when his partner was sitting in another row.

I pre-allocated 3K because IMO it's better than 1K - toilet/curtain.

For a couple that wants to sit side by side rows F and K are the only choice.

EDIT - now I've got the map the assumed partner was sitting in 3F

It happens. Some people think it's their entitlement in life.

Then there are staff, and family and friend requests. The stupidity of this is when other staff find out this has happened they try to cover for their colleagues. Why? The code?

My point is that no matter how much DYKWIA some pax may be or how hard they try to "charm" their way to a better seat, they don't have access to the system so if a person is moved from his pre-selected seat it's entirely the airline's fault.

This is so on the money and the QF WP is perhaps has the biggest self entitlement of all. A couple of double SC runs or continuous abuse of the cheap fare rort and there is belief that every flight should be upgraded or have a free seat allocated next to the incumbent. Personally the sooner QF make WP 2800 SC's the better.

The only thing I'd say to the contrary, is that I'd suggest they should gauge the effect of the recently diminished JASAs etc before jumping on much else. Making WP or P1 a higher SC balance to achieve is pointless really, it just needs to be made achievable for people who earn it by flying rather than "give-a-ways" (which seems to be the path they're now taking). Many AFFers will be against this, as it may mean the loss of status for some (many??) but that's life!

Just want to say a Big Thank you to the P1 Team.

Checked in this morning for QF10 LHR-MEL with a nice surprise, an upgrade from Y to J and a note congratulating me on my 75th A380 Flight :)

Thank you.

That's awesome! And even better they keep and track stats like that!

That IS impressive - on all counts. Well done, Ansett - and Qantas.

As a matter of interest, did you know your own count? And was the total for 75 flights between MEL and LHR? Or was it legs, such as MEL-DXB, DXB-LHR etc? I guess they add up if counted by the latter system but it sounds as if yours is 75 "long long" haul flights.

Hope you enjoyed the bubbly and the sleep. :)

Hahaha.

I do agree with you though. More SCs to requalify Platinum would be in order and enough of the endless stupid bonus SCs offers.

Platinum may actually be worth something then instead of being merged with Gold.

Oh and Platinum One is the new Platinum. Make no mistakes about it. It is not a level within a level. It is a new level above Platinum and I am totally against it.

That is fabulous on may levels. Well done, and enjoy.

Yes it is fabulous. I do around 175-200 flights a year (95% domestic) - I would be so impressed if at some point they could tell me how many flights I have done with them

I'd support increasing the squiggle requirement before raising the SCs.

Would help people correctly choose their "home" airline as their primary program ;)
