Qantas Platinum One experiences?

I'd support increasing the squiggle requirement before raising the SCs.

Would help people correctly choose their "home" airline as their primary program ;)
It has been too easy for a while now. Platinum benefits are eroding rapidly. Something needs to be done.

Something has been done. Removing the JASA backdoor and reducing partner earn is two that spring to mind. It's too early though, to properly gauge the effect of those changes. I'm hoping that QF and QFF don't do anything else for a while until they assess the situation in a year or so.

Might take more than a couple of years to get that data.

We've locked in a quite a few F & J MASA (due to a ballot win for a dawn service) that will deliver WP for the two of us until March 2017  The timing of the ballot win and the closure of MASA was a beautiful thing - couldn't have been timed better!

I hope so.

More benefits are being taken away from Platinum as we speak.

Just catching up on a few things from recent days:

1. Re the P1 flight sim deal. I was offered the same deal (well I think they said 737, but think those are here in MEL vs 747 in SYD?) when I first got P1, nothing since then (I did not partake in the sim offer)

2. love the proposal message on the BP. only a real flying person would get the seq 1 and BP "service information" message thing as being cool. I do :) So glad she said yes

3. re being moved for a CL in 3K/DWKWIA pax... reminds me of my own experience with this that I related onto FT awhile back, but may entertain to repeat here. It was QF93 to LAX in F. I had upgraded to 1A, but then moved to 1K (1A was faulty, and it really was this time :) ) so that move was OK. Anyway I am sipping my PD champers and I hear a commotion of sorts from forward. a DWKWIA type was whining "I only took the upgrade because I would get a window seat!" (never mind the flight is mostly in the dark and over water, but that's a minor point, right?) and this pax was going on and on about it, and the crew were trying very hard to placate her. I was thinking to myself "Well if the lack of a window is so upsetting to your highness, piss off back to J and look out a window there and stop bugging us!" ... anyway I went back to my champ, and still 5 minutes later I heard her STILL whining (I mean, seriously.. this is up with the pyjama party dummy spit imho) and the crew politely explaining well we have 2 faulty suites, both windows (yes, a QF MX issue for sure, but we'll bypass that issue for now). Anyway the pax in 3K I think eventually got sick of the madness and got up and "kindly offered" her his window seat. Fair dinkum I was amazed at the attitude and tantrum over the seat. You've been upgraded to F - which is absolutely wonderful and you should be thankful for the nicer seat and food etc for this long flight, not coughing about a window (someone should have told her to watch the tail cam on the IFE). Here's the thing.. if she'd politely asked me (for example), or even the CSM came and quietly enquired if I'd be willing to move I'd probably have considered it (or not).. but the scene she made in the cabin made me damn sure that I would say NO should I be approached.

Wanted to book a table at LAX for the family (all 4 of us in J) as I don't really want to turf the family out to the terminal and was told P1s can't reserve a table.

Sigh.

Seriously?
So who can, if not a P1 travelling in a premium cabin?
i haven't seen the new LAX Lounge yet but could this request really be a problem?

I'm thinking VIPs CLs and F pax?

Given we are on a flight with no F I guess that makes VIPs and CLs

I even mentioned last visit there a couple of weeks ago I was turned back as there was no seats.

Normally I couldn't give a toss about lounge entry, but with the wife and the kids with me (an amazingly rare occasion) I don't want to have to pay for food/drink and find a decent seat to sit down in.

I've got another US/AU trip nested inside our vacation (have to return for work for a day) and have F upgrade requests in, and if I don't get lounge access then, I'll go bananas.

Seriously suggest a call and or email to the P1 team this really is poor service for P1 customer and I for one would not be impressed if it was me.

It was a frantic dash to the computer when I realised I was 2 hours late for OLCI opening and I wanted "seq 1" on the BP. ;)

I'd support that increase too. Just 4 seems far too easy, but even a doubling wouldn't be that hard unless you lived overseas.

Second vote for this course of action, with particular note of your recent experience being turned away.
Hopefully, it wasn't a P1 team member who refused your request! :(

Of course it was.
"As the lounge in LAX is very small, I doubt we will be able to reserve a table for you."

FWIW I've tried to book a table in the SYD Flounge for 4 ... all travelling F. Was told "we don't do that". Upon arrival - they walked us to a table that had a "reserved sign" on it .... this has also occurred when the four of us have rocked up with no prior conversation travelling in J.

Good Luck!

"As the lounge in LAX is very small, I doubt we will be able to reserve a table for you."

Gracious! As I said, I've not yet visited. Is it really so small?
That said, you could work on the "doubt", perhaps? Still worth following up, on the basis of your previous unsatisfactory experience, I would think.
Can't blame you though if you don't feel the need for another rejection. :)

Is it really so small?

It's not the "smallest" lounge by any standard, but it is insanely crowded in the evening. I really do hope the OneWorld First lounge opens before January...I'm getting really tired of the same food offering in the T4 Flagship lounge....

Ah, thanks for the clarification.

I hadn't kept up on the LAX situation, obviously, and had in my mind that the new lounge had opened.
We did pass through LAX a few weeks ago but were flying on and didn't use the QF lounge.

Will be back there in a few months, so - along with everyone else here - will be hoping for an improvement in the facilities.

Was at the J lounge at LAX the other day, there was a 2 seat table that had a "reserved" sign sitting on the table, I'm thinking, you little ripper, maybe a CL/P1 thingy, so I asked before I sat & got told, no these are reserved for a particular guest, yeah no prob i said, then I actually found a seat about 5 meters away for me & my wife.

Was in the J lounge for about 2hrs, within that 2 hrs, I saw 6 couples sit at that table , one after another, after another, & so on, every time the couples probably sat there for 10-15 minutes before getting told, sorry this is reserved for someone else.
.
Honestly, I wouldn't waste your time trying to book a table as there are people out there who just don't care or think they are entitled to this reserved table, one couple even took the sign off the table onto where the plants were just behind them

I went to the J lounge to try it out & was very disappointed in the food, not enough cutlery, not even enough food everytime I went up to get some I had to either wait for a glass to get a drink (which was hot as hell as it came out of the washer & when you put cold drinks in them, well they didn't stay cold for long) or food to arrive.
