Qantas Platinum One experiences?

FWIW I've tried to book a table in the SYD Flounge for 4 ... all travelling F. Was told "we don't do that". Upon arrival - they walked us to a table that had a "reserved sign" on it .... this has also occurred when the four of us have rocked up with no prior conversation travelling in J.

My impression is the reserved signs are put on the larger tables by default to try to prevent singles or doubles from sitting at them - they're not reserved for anyone in particular, just for a group larger than 2.

In the SIN lounge they have a whole row of 2 seater tables marked as reserved permanently, with guests taken to them by staff.

I'm thinking they are CL spots.

Correct. Was confirmed by staff at SYD.

I'm sure tables can be booked .... If one is deemed important enough! Recall reading posts by a CL confirming this.

Been to the SIN lounge 4 times as a P1 - not once have I been told of a designated area or even welcomed as a P1. Attendant more interested in getting my FF number so EK can be charged (3 of the 4 flights were EK).

Never had trouble getting a seat though. And I always head to the EK lounge as soon as it opens in any event. Far superior.

Tables can also be booked by passengers in F on QF IME. We were flying early in the morning to HKG, asked at check-in and they rang through to the lounge. On arrival the lounge was chockers. We were shown directly to our window table (reserved sign on it). Other guests were having their names taken down and advised of 20 minute wait.

Don't know if that process is only for busy mornings but seemed to be fairly accessible to us.

Simple case of them KWYA ;)

My attempt to book for the four of us QF F was the day before when the F host called. Maybe I should give the BNE check-in agent a burl and see if they can arrange a booking ... can't see my chances being all that positive!

I tried the same thing when the First Host called and she told me that check-in would be able to arrange it for us. She stated that they don't like to reserve tables until they have a rough idea when the guests might arrive (paraphrasing here but it was something like that).

Maybe try it on your next flight when you arrive in SYD?

I will have to see what happens this afternoon, but I agree, the P1 welcome to the QF SIN lounge is exactly the same as the NB with QP welcome IMHO (based on probably 20-30 visits as a WP and 8-10 visits as a P1). Hand over your boarding pass and card at the desk and you are promptly sent on your way with a 'Welcome Sir' if you are lucky.....

I will not have much to worry about in the future anyway because once I get through the 3K flights I have stupidly booked to PER today and another in a few weeks time, it will be all SQ from then on and their non-toileted T3 KF Gold lounge.

As an aside, with QF pulling out of PER in May and all my SIN flying on SQ since then (until this weekend), experience has shown that on board, the only difference between flying as a P1 on QF and a VA red on SQ is I have to pay for my exit row A330 seat on SQ versus possibly getting the same seat for free on QF.

No welcome at arrival, only thing said was 'no boarding calls are made for Jetstar flights in the lounge". No reserved tables at the moment but the place is dead.

I've only been through the Sing lounge three times as a P1. Each time the lounge manager has met me and walked me to a table. While the food selection is good, I am also an EK lounge proponent for the simple reason that the wine selection in the QF Sing lounge is akin to the QP in Perth, while EK put on a decent selection of interesting wines.

A tad more inconsistent too, my P1 SIN lounge visits (maybe half a dozen?) have all been the same as Pleb Status.

Have always had excellent service from Michelle and Robert and especially with the reserved wine :)

Update,

Didn't expect it, but got a mail from the P1 team today saying that they had managed to reserve a table for us at LAX.
It is most welcome, thank you QF P1 team, really appreciated. :)

You must be very lucky and/or important. I have never received any level of service above the absolute minimum in any QF lounge in the world. As stated in the posts above, I could not even get a 'Welcome Sir' in the SIN lounge on Sunday.

I always get walked to a table every time in SIN and asked what drink I'd like, even when flying Malaysian. They also meet me at the gate when arriving on QF. I'll miss P1 when I lose it.
