Qantas Platinum One experiences?

You should hear the UA people talk about how everyone below "Global Services" (sort of a cross between CL and P1) get treated like dirt! Having being part of along delay at Denver a year or so back where there was zilch empathy, support (let alone something like food vouchers or stuff) from gate agents etc I was aghast that talking to a bunch of UA loyalists (DEN being a hub) at the 1K level (like QF Plat) shrugged as though this was a normal and expected state of affairs there.

but I digress :D

The evac training thing does sound like a great low cost (to QF) thing to offer - like they do with the sim time I agree.

Post Hobart 98 and pre 9/11 I did the mandatory Safety of Life at Sea practical training in the mascot jet base pool where they train flight staff for on water evacuations.

There is (at least at that time) a basic mocked up fuselage at the side of the pool for evacuation into water simulations. Climbing into a life raft in the pitch black with the overhead sprinklers running simulating heavy rain was quite the experience but one I would never want to experience in real life

That would be great fun. I would be keen to do that.

*Realises that she is not P1 and shouldn't be speaking in this thread. Curtsies and backs out slowly averting her eyes*

LOL Jessica I am sure one of us would invite you as our Guest :)

Got the books but would have rather the wine. :) Perhaps those in WA are getting wine to help them drown their sorrows with no more QFi LOL

Maybe they have realised that the books are not the best option - I sent mine back. I would have kept the wine and written a nice thank you note to boot..............aaahhhh consistently inconsistent. they cant even send us all the same thing.

Why would you send them back for?

I never read books on planes and I have zero use for them. Neither am I going to be inconvenienced by trying to palm them off onto someone else or dropping them at a charity shop. Further, I think that the giving off a book to someone is a presumption that it will be to their taste and that they will set aside the time to read it - if you're into books that's fine. I'm not.

Isn't give a bottle of wine a presumption as well, we all have different taste in wine?

I dont drink wine but was looking forward to reading the books. Guess i have to buy them on their website, lol

Mate, I am sure one of us (ie me) would be more than happy to send them to you (though I shudder at the postage !!!) there are plenty to go around!!!

How much DID it cost to return to QF? I also think there's a message there to them. I was considering a polite email but I thought that it would sound sour and ungrateful and I wouldn't even know where to send it (as in P1 team? QFF general?)....

re the "choice" of wine or books.. I wonder if it s to do with interests in QFF profile? I looked yesterday and noticed (damn!) I did not have food/wine selected.... I'm not saying that was the clincher, but who knows...
