Qantas Points Club Discussion

Probably I need to re-read the T&Cs.
But on a quick scan, there seems to be no benefit at all, if you are Platinum One and LTG.
If anyone has picked up any relevant benefits, it would be interesting to hear what they might be?

Sorry I asked in the other Points Club thread, but I’ll also ask here:

Does it mean that you need to get the points in the earlier part of membership year before you can access the benefits in the remainder of the membership year?

Sorry if it’s been answered in the past 7 pages of this thread

SC earn on reward flights and I gather an ability to rollover 100 SCs to the next year (won't count toward P1 status).
Some minor discounts at the rewards store and insurance, car rentals etc.
Minimal but still better than nothing.

Correct, but then the benefits will still apply for your next full membership year. (That's my understanding at least).

Yes, kermatu. I saw the SC earn factor - but then those SCs don't count towards anything much at all, do they, if not towards status retention or LT status earn?
(The latter is not relevant to me, anyway, as I have LTG multiple times over but would never reach LTP on the ridiculous qualification level, at my stage in travelling life. :))

The 100 SC rollover definitely states it won't count toward P1 but the SC earn on reward flights doesn't have that (or any other) restriction as far as I'm aware.
The 100 SC would still be useful to get to WP or SG if that were relevant.

Moot for me as I'm not yet a member!

If so, that would be good.
My quick scan led me to believe that they did not count towards P1 status gain or retention.
Thanks, all, for raising the possibility.
I will re-read.
Have not done an Award flight in yonks and have a significant stash of points, so could be something to plan for.
IF we ever get to travel again..... :)

Absolutely right!
Thank you, kermatu and Mr Bios.

"As a Points Club member, you can enjoy earning Status Credits on Qantas marketed Classic Flight Rewards. Status Credits earned via Classic Flight Reward bookings will contribute to your status, Loyalty Bonus, Platinum Bonus Reward, Platinum One Bonus and lifetime tiers.

Points Club Plus members get the exclusive ability to roll over up to 100 of their Status Credits into their next Membership Year. Points Club Plus members’ Status Credits that are rolled over from one Membership Year to the next will not contribute to Loyalty Bonus, Platinum Bonus Reward, Platinum One Bonus or Lifetime tiers, and for Platinum One members, will not contribute towards attaining or retaining status.

I notice that the rollover benefit states "Roll over up to 100 Status Credits into your next Membership Year"

I'm surmising that it will be SCs over your attain or retain level that you can rollover, up to 100 SCs. For example, if you retain WP with 1250 SCs then you can only rollover 50 SCs into the next year and you would need at least 1300 SCs to rollover the full 100 SCs.

You can roll over up to 100 status credits that have been earned in that membership year. If you earn fewer SCs then fewer rollover. Simple really.

Happy camper here as well, was in Points Club up until Friday and then moved to Points Club Plus. See that I still got the two lounge invites even though I now have complimentary Qantas Club membership.

A pyrrhic victory of sorts seeing as I can't see any time in the foreseeable future where I can take advantage especially now that non essential domestic travel also on the banned list

The SCs from award flights definitely do not contribute to the 2700 SC on QF flight numbers required for P1.
They do for the overall 3600 though.

From what I can tell, these award flights do contribute to the 4 ~ segments on QF/JQ flight numbers for regular status. I've not taken any revenue QF/JQ flights, just the several QF award flights and I can't see the "you need 4 more flights on QF/JQ flight numbers to requalify" segment on my app or when logged in on the website. Not sure if it's because they removed that counter, or if I'm wrong.

Either way it doesn't matter given the status extension.

Could you give a reference for that exclusion, Kangol?

My own account. I still require 2700 QF SC to retain P1. :D

Still not sure about the 4 squiggles counter issue, I have the latest version of the app.
Imagine if you could in theory qualify for (at best) WP with award flights only!
