Qantas Points Club Discussion

Members who are already gold or platinum are not the target market of Points Club.
That's an interesting philosophy ...why wouldn't you motivate people to spend more on their various products to encourage a points plus club level when it costs you very little extra to do so? Isn't it all about the revenue verses cost or am I missing something?
 
I've written this article which offers a simple fix for the current problem of the Qantas Club benefit being more useful for Qantas Gold/Platinum/Platinum One members who have Points Club than Points Club Plus:

Well, I think it's a great idea. The complimentary Qantas Club membership is completely useless to me or anyone in my family (none of whom have Qantas Club membership).

On the other hand, my wife now has status with VA because of my Platinum status, and also is a lifetime Plat with UA, because of my status with UA (2 million mile flyer).

So Qantas is certainly dragging its feet (as Qantas does).

My understanding is Points Club was introduced to give some love to the people who don't fly but who earn a reasonable amount of points through any number of the myriad ways one can in Australia.

Well I agree that is tge stated marketibg reason and it makes sense as a driver to keep people in the ecosystem by having a form of "ground stats"

However, there seems not question that elements (eg SC rarn and rollover) are definitely for those who fly.

Anyone who engages is a win for QF Loyalty - whatever the incentive or motivation.

No mention of “don’t fly” but more about recognising those who earn a lot on the ground… From QF PC website:

“Points Club recognises and rewards Qantas Frequent Flyer members who earn a high number of Qantas Points on the ground, through booking Qantas Hotel, grocery shopping or using a Qantas Points earning credit card.”

Which is not an exhaustive list!

Also, as mentioned earlier, by definition anyone signed up to QFF presumably do fly or intend to fly (well, apart from the free toaster brigade).

Reached the requalification for Points Club back in early December and then my membership year clicked over on 1 Feb, but no vouchers as yet in the dashboard. Anyone have knowledge of how and when they appear?
 
I re-qualified in early January, membership year ended 31st January.
I just checked QFF my account and my new lounge passes are there.

I haven't received an email about the Qantas Hotel voucher yet. When checking my Points Club account it says up to 2 week after re-qualifying
 
Read our AFF credit card guides and start earning more points now.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

I spoke to Customer Services today. Said the vouchers for the Wine and Hotel appear 21 days after your membership year restarts. Will see on 22nd Feb now!

I just checked QFF my account and my new lounge passes are there.
Yep mine were there within 24 hours after the membership year changed.
 
I purchased some top-up points - these seemed to have counted towards eligibility for PC - is this correct?

(I know topping up points is probably the worst value thing you can do, but I did the sums and purchasing points / redeeming award seats ended up cheaper than buying outright revenue seats with cash - so I guess that's my justification!)

Not really a drinker - I'd drink probably at most 5-10 times a year!

But yes, as I could see award seats available, I thought it would be better to buy points and redeem those seats rather than pay more for revenue fares.
 
Having some trouble getting ORC for some award flights - a week after submitting the ticket, the agent replied with "U and X class are not eligible for points and status credits".

Suggest in any email requests for ORC where points club is involved to include a reference to the website / PC eligibility.
 
Does adding climate positive delivery to a Kimberley Land Council donation count for both the 'choose sustainable' and 'give back' leafs?

Anyone know how long it takes for the Milestone Bonus Reward of 2,500 bonus Qantas to be credited?
