Qantas Salt & Pepper Squid thread

OK great. I didn't see it (or the Qantas Pav) on the published breakfast menu so assumed it was limited during the breakfast shift.

Wasn't aware of this thread, here is the very nice offering at MEL a few weeks ago, the first for me post Covid.
Unfortunately my visit to the SYD lounge next month will be in the morning, so it will have forego it in favour of eggs benny washed down with lots of Pommery.

B-b-b-but still no chilli on the MEL offering. Never, ever.

Is it a religious thing in the DPRV? 🤷‍♂️🤔

No, they aren't available on the breakfast menu in Australia. They are available before 10.30am in London on the brunch menu.
Didn't someone say it's available all day (opening times permitting)?

SYD F “all day” dining starts around 11am. It’s B’fast menu only before that - AFAIK.

I once read someone asked for it in SYD FCL before 11am and they made it for them (off menu). Not sure if this was a one off though!

Off back to SYD FCL in a month, might give it a go!

Have asked a few times and been told each time that they only do it after 11am - but you can 'order' before 11am.

Qantas now has salt & pepper squid at the reopened Hong Kong lounge.

Oh, will be passing through Honkers in a couple of weeks flying CX.

How was the squid BTW?

OT, but is the QF lounge worth visiting if one has access to CX F lounges? (Can also be driven by arrival and departure gate in HKG).

The squid was nice, but I think the original Sydney/Melbourne version is better :)

Yes, IMHO the Qantas lounge is very much worth visiting. I also popped into The Wing First lounge, and found the service in the Qantas lounge to be so much more warm and friendly. CX did have better champagne, though.

See here for more:

My international travel is mostly out of SYD where the S&P squid is devine and has been since its inception, I was shocked last week at MEL not to see any chilli. Looking back upthread it seems this is a MEL thing... :( I feel the fresh chilli completes the dish with colour and flavour.

I have not sampled the HKG version so can't comment but now I must say the SYD (with chilli) now beats MEL (without) while the LAX variety should be dropped from the menu completely.

Have any of you asked for the chilli in MEL to be included?
If so, what was their answer?

Funny, just looking at the SYD F lounge upthread and different plating. Today was normal as ever. If not quite generous!
