I've managed to find MEL-SIN-MEL on EK Metal for $450ish AUD on the dates I wanted.

I've really been looking for MEL-HKT one way but that's actually more expensive than MEL-SIN-MEL... :idea:

Also will earn 7,000 QF points I think, not sure about SC though. (Not a QF flyer at all these days so unsure how the new agreement works.)

Lowly Bronze here but the MEL-SIN leg will be come MEL-SIN-HKT and then I'll board a VA HKT-PER-MEL J flight which will see me WP. A bit of convoluted way of doing things hey.

WP with DSC would yield 15k points and 120 SCs - a fairly good mileage run given F lounge breaky on the departure, and the new SIN lounge on the way back (of course you would have to fly it )

Brazil is Portuguese so I don't think your Spanish will help you much!

Go to the QF site and look at the travel dates to get an ideal of the cheaper flights.

SYD-LHR-SYD Y+ is $3,780 compared to $4,500 on QF site.
The difference being the fuel levy.
Probably worth waiting for a PE sale?

I would love this to become standard but I just don't see that happening....I just punched up SYD-DXB-LHR for $1005 return for Nov/Dec. Talk about making excuses to travel

In addition to seeing rules that state that certain fares can't be sold in these "loophole" places, more recently, I've seen this:

THE PROVISIONS BELOW APPLY ONLY AS FOLLOWS -
WHEN TICKETS ARE SOLD IN ARGENTINA/COLOMBIA/PARAGUAY/
URUGUAY.
MISCELLANEOUS/OTHER SURCHARGE OF USD 340.00 PER
DIRECTION WILL BE ADDED TO THE APPLICABLE FARE PER
ANY PASSENGER.

This effectively adds the fuel surcharge to the base fare.
