QANTAS to launch their own credit card in tie-up with Citibank

Have sent the last bit of income detail to Citi/Qantas today so if you hear laughter that would be from Citi.

Friend applied, got a call back the day after asking for one extra pay slip, got approved 5 minutes later. Card arrived 5 business days after that. Quite easy process according to them.

Application declined! I have emailed Citi and asked for a review as I think (know) by my phone discussions that the agent has misinterpreted my base employment contract which would reduce my income by 2/3rds. The agent also refused to accept one of my income streams despite my Citi Plat being approved with said stream last year. Despite this, my average contract income (the correct calculation) and investment income would put me way over minimum income criteria - as confirmed by the Citi agent.

Used exactly same income criteria for Westpac Black QFF application - no phone calls/contact - collecting the card this afternoon! Just in time to pay ATO.

God luck with that. I was knocked back once (and only ever knock back), and never again. No amount of sane discussion helped, and I ended up w' 2 Veda enquires after they reviewed it. I have had countless successful cc applications since.

Received an immediate response from Citibank fobbing me off to Qantas Premier/Money - 'but if there is anything else we can do.......' So have sent same email to Qantas Money.

I had a similar experience. The call came about 48 hours after I applied as I did it late in the evening. Very surreal conversation with the operator asking why my YTD income paid doesn't match my annual salary and asking for another payslip "to verify." (ahh Citi) Approved the day after and card arrived 3 business days following approval.

The application process is easier once you've established some sort of profile with Citi I've found. My first Citi application for a Virgin Money card involved no less than 6 phone calls, a few of which asking for things I've already provided. Subsequent applications for Citi Signature and to change from my Flyer card to High Flyer were a breeze as with Qantas Premier.

Whilst time is running out, it is an expensive way to get points via ATO payments, in relative terms.

I've never been able to get a Citi card despite never having a problem with other institutions. I think you can get flagged for some reasons and then never have a hope in later applications.

I feel certain this thread could become a second humour thread as answers come back from Citi. Often they ask for stuff you have already supplied or misinterpreted the numbers you supplied.

Being asked to call my employer to find the street number of the business (it has none) was a highlight of my application process.

Yes, I know, but looking at the big picture with a J class trip in mind. Would rather pay the ATO cc fee than have to buy the equivalent points from QF.

Another call left for me at work from Virgin Money LOL.

This is still going on and now providing comic relief in an otherwise boring working day. They keep asking for what they already have. My advice to anyone who is self employed - run a mile LOL

Probably should have just made up a street number.
They don't accept that. I tried making up numbers but without any luck.

I had the same issue as PF and even though my employer is the biggest in the Illawarra (I think), I had to submit the NSW Ministry of Health's (as suggested by PF) address to be accepted. It's ridiculous considering how many people are employed by hospitals.

Citibank...

And now I get an email from Qantas telling me my passes have landed :)
Same.
Very useful for a WP...

I'm thinking I might keep them for 6 months incase I need to guest more than 1 person into the lounge (not that this has happened before?) and after that, just put up a general offer on my facebook profile?

I just applied for a VEDA check , the lady called me to try and upgrade to a paid VEDA. She has told me over the phone though that Citi have accessed my credit file multiple times. Looks like every time I sent them documents they access my file. I"m waiting for the report to come and then looks like I have to pay VEDA to investigate and fix it. I'm not impressed.
