Qantas Trans-Tasman Business Class

Maybe this adds to "consistently inconsistent"; but tonight's QF163 service in J had amenity kits offered pre-takeoff without asking. The same service I took in early December had no such thing.

Service tonight was really good, I thought, very friendly and kept us well topped up, with the smoothest ever landing into WLG that I thought possible.

Definitely looking forward to EK F AKLSYD on the return! :D

Just handed a pack on QF155 before take off . I generally take this flight to see m husband and have a fairly large collection of Kate spade bags!

Could it be possible that whatever flights you are searching on just do not have availability on some days?

In the interests of accuracy I have done some research on this:

i realise I'm responding to an old quote but I think Poochies experience relates to the search function of QF. I can't remember which way it goes but I find its to do with the ticking flexible with dates box to get you to show EK and LAN flights and not just all QF. If connecting from elsewhere QF always tries to only show QF flights it seems, but I know EK and LAN are there so I keep hunting them down! And on one occasion had to call up for them as computer wouldn't show them to me. I've used multi city and I think something similar happens. So yes the flights are there daily but it's QFs website that makes it appear otherwise!

I also think theres something weird with Apple chrome and QFs website. I need to go to safari sometimes to book or double check settings and still have issues. Drives me bonkers and I think "I don't have this cough when booking other airlines!!"

Will try your tip out NZflygirl.
Have tried the SYD QF J lounge day visit so will make unconnected flights ADL to the Au east coast to meet my future trans Tasman flights.
EK F with a QF flight number.

I've been branching out beyond QF this year a fair bit and can safely say most airlines' websites have their frustrations. But I can also safely say that I've given my personal business in 3 instances totalling maybe 10 flights (in J or better) this year alone because the QF website wouldn't let me do multi-sector bookings which I've done before or the site would crash and show errors. Sure hope QF knows it's losing business this way - I leave website feedback every time.

I'm looking forward to trying SQs CBR-WLG service later this year.

Has anyone flown this route recently? I am wondering what the menu options are like these days. I checked the definitive menu thread but didn't have any luck.

A few of us have posted J menus from Trans Tasman J flights in the Domestic business class meals thread. Have a look there. I had a great lunch from Christchurch to Sydney a few months back. I have a half dozen flights to/from AKL and WLG in the next 3 months so will try and post pics or menus.

Excellent thank you.

This one is about 6 months old, but should give you an idea... This was a dinner flight AKL-BNE.

Back from march/April. The duck was quite bad but the beef bourguinon was exceptional.

(Also, QF customer service did not take kindly to my idea that they should just send me an amenity kit to make up for the many I missed. :\)

Interesting, for me the duck was bad as well but not as bad as the fatty tough beef bourguignon that I had.
First QF J TT in a long time and after the poor offering in the SYD Qantas Club I have been wondering why I bother anymore.

Just to correct my earlier post - the menu I put up was AKL-BNE. Can't remember what the meal was CHC-SYD. It may well have been breakfast.

So today was the roll out of a new menu on QF 123 BNE-AKL. Due to my FF status I was handed a survey to complete. Overall it was very reasonable. I joked with my seat mate about how many prawns there would be. Subsequently I received 2 on my dish. Others had 3. The mustard dressing was on point. The lamb moussaka was absolutely divine. Well portioned and free flowing wine throughout the flight. I got cheeky towards the end but cabin crew were on to me. Before anyone jumps on me for taking a menu, I asked a crew member if it was ok and advised her why I wanted a copy. The difference between flying EK and QF is the crew personalities. Today I was very impressed. More personal than EK. Less J pax to fawn over I guess.

New menu rolled out yesterday on the AKL-MEL afternoon flight. Staff were quite nervous and it did take quite long for the service (not helped by a full J cabin and the pilots taking a toilet break midway through which obviously suspends the service). Will post menu pics tomorrow (yes, I took one too!). main difference is an extra main option and it is all plated (I think that's the right term) - there's no tray anymore. Which is actually a bit of a risk given the tables are not that deep on the 737s.

Biggest letdown is the 'salad'. Same old rubbish. Does anyone ever eat this, I wonder?

Otherwise it was good. But I've always thought pretty highly of the J meals trans-Tasman.
