Qantas Upgrades - Successes or Failures (post results)

QF10, Y+(reward) to J x2 successful at T-48.
Poor value for points, but only way to mix a ludicrously cheap Y sale fare with a J reward hope.

QF776 9-Mar Y -> J x1
Wasn't immediate (applied T-36) - came through about T-24.

Successful Y to J on QF172 from WLG to MEL on Saturday 10th March for 20,000 points at T-24. Well worth it for those little 737 across the ditch.

Did get an offer to upgrade MEL to ADL but it was cheaper to just put in for an upgrade for 10,000 points which I didn't - I wonder if anyone ever takes them up on those

Successful for this WP from Y>J for SIN-xMEL-SYD departing Sunday evening.
Notice given at T-60 and prime spot in emerald city confirmed from SIN-MEL. :)

This was quite a surprise, as loads are heavy, and the 388 operated flight out of SIN had been showing F0 J0 for at least a day or so. Now shows 0 in ALL buckets, all classes. I was initially anticipating possibly Y+, or maybe J at the gate, if lucky with changes or cancellations. Only negative: MEL-SYD is on one of the two old 332s :(

Cheers,
Matt.

Yesterday, booked a ticket BNE/CBR/BNE and as I have a reasonable stash of QFF points, decided to pull the trigger on upgrades to both sectors. Both confirmed at request, which has become rarer. Nice, as its getting harder and harder to fly in Y.

Unsuccessful x2 WP on QF117. Have not been successful at all in the last few flights. Making me think the real value of WP or I have heard rumours of unsuccessful due to 2 pax vs single request pax at WP tier. I have been told at check in that single requests have preference. I thought it would have been status and time request made.

Would be keen to get the expert's view. If there are 2 seats available for WP, would the seats be allocated to 2 single WP or be based on time of request of 2 seats where both pax are also WP?

Success Y - J for 2 on QF30 today, got the happy text at about +28 and toasted last night. Have been very lucky thus far with a limited int requests as 3:3 including QF9/10. very much counting my blessing as we embark on a 4 hour HKG lounge cruise :)

Successful upgrade from Y to J on QF3 Sun 18 Mar SYD/HNL for 2 x WP's on same pnr at T-28. By Y I mean an 'S' class Saver fare which is the cheapest economy fare that permits upgrades. Cost was 60,000 points pp. That's now a 100% success rate with points upgrades ie 3/3 on the QF3 SYD/HNL run. Bit of a bummer it's not 48,000 any longer however on both of those occasions it was VH-EBG or VH-EBL the 332 with the Mk1 Skybeds. This time it was VH-QPB with the new J suites which was nice.

Sounding like a broken record :) Unsuccessful Y-J for 2x WP on QF118 (same PNR)

6/4 - Success QF96 LAX to MEL: Y+ > J 1 x Silver (same flight a bronze friend got Y > J)
7/4 - Success QF769 MEL to PER: Y > J 1 x Silver (same flight 2 bronze friends got Y > J)

Would be keen to get the expert's view. If there are 2 seats available for WP, would the seats be allocated to 2 single WP or be based on time of request of 2 seats where both pax are also WP?
Single WP would have preference over a couple regardless of when the couple made their request. You can only request your upgrade be processed as late as at at the gate when travelling solo.
