And to think they seem to expect some people will actually pay for Epiqure membership (and you'd have to think they have some basis for this, i.e. some people actually do).

EpiQure have good deals sometimes with prices similar to the competition and if you get free delivery and earn bonus QFF points it's a win win.
They recently had a good promo for new members that also included a decent bottle of champagne IIRC.

Well I guess that depends on how hard you search! For me the prices are nothing like the competition and that make them expensive QFF points but YMMV

It's just waiting on the right special. When they had bonus points on a Billecart mix pack, plus a case of Taittinger for >$1k spend, you could get a decent amount of champagne for much cheaper than the competition and QF points to boot.

They have to work pretty hard to match Dans with starthere and wish cards though.

To be fair offering bonuses and/or discount is how most retailers try to move slow moving stock! But I agree with the point the fact it has a bonus doesn't mean its good wine, in fact frequently the opposite.

I think what is happening is they have been using price to try and clear it for a few weeks as there was no bonus offers, this week they are dipping their toes back in the bonus bath to see if that makes a difference.

This wine is a favourite of ours as we served it at our wedding, so have bought the 2003, 2008, 2009 and 2010, but haven't come across the '06 vintage. Generally I've bought whatever the currently available vintage is for around $35. At that price it is always a great drop, at $60 pb not so sure.

The Keyneton is a great drop - usually an uncommon blend of Cab Sauv, Shiraz, Cab Franc, Merlot. Given it's aged, I'd say that $60 is probably worth it. I can't recall if the 2006 was one of the better years or not.
