Qantas Wine latest offering

A "review" (diatribe) of an epiquire wine from me here:

I had a bottle of this on Saturday night. Very nice.

More than acceptable now. It is a smooth balanced Shiraz, but has some guts. It was good now, but I can certainly see that it would benefit from a few years and some decanting. It's a screwcap so easy to store.

I didn't realise it was a QF wine actually, but perhaps somewhere in the preceding hours I missed the moment when my host told me that this was actually a QF "comp" for something. I wish QANTAS would "comp" me something rather than charging me $80 for it :p:p

After the huge headache, inconvenience and waste of my time I finally have the RWT, but this was after multiple conscious efforts of dishonesty from DMs.
The manager made up some excuse, claiming that she spoke to the person who served me, who allegedly told me that the reason why I didn't get the offer because it was a "while stocks last" offer and they had run out of stock of the 2011 vintage and hence not able to give me the offer. Total BS - I was told by two people that the St Henri was not eligible ("only Bin series"), after me questioning them about if St Henri was considered a "luxury" wine. I knew the answer and they did not mention anything about a "while stocks last", nor does it say it on the website, nor did the call centre people (more than one) say it was a "while stocks last" offer. She then had the gall to tell me that they did me a favour that they had to "drive to another store just to get this bottle for you".. this was after the stock manager told me on the phone earlier in the day that "we're getting a delivery of 8 this afternoon and I'll be sure to hold one for you".

They really screwed up customer service-wise, something Epiqure would never do (in my experience). If Epiqure did make an error, they would rectify it and act so that their reputation is not damaged, or at worst, is repaired.

I've also just checked and the 2011 RWT is a cork, not screwcap as I was told it would be, again another huge **ckup!!

From what I can tell, you can get the 2011 RWT in both cork or screwcap:

Does that sound right - in Australia you would be able to get both cork and screwcap for the luxury Penfolds reds (except Grange) and certainly the RWT?

Another update:
I sent in feedback to the website and long story short, I got a call from a higher up manager of DMs, apologising for the issues (first apology from someone there, yay) and informing me that the last screwcap 2011 RWT in the state had been located for me. After some logistic arrangements, I now have a 2011 RWT screwcap closure. It will join my cork one nicely ;)

Great service recovery from DMs! Excellent end to the massive screwup (no pun intended).

did you have to pay for it?

Received an email today from Penfolds reminding me to post my receipt for the Vintec offer. WTF? I posted it weeks ago. Will have to ring tomorrow and try to sort this out
I want my fridge !
I could be in a bad mood tomorrow.

I posted my receipt end of July, waited 2 weeks for conformation and eventually called Penfolds to discover they didn't receive anything from me. The guy over the phone was very nice and told me not to bother posting again, just email him the receipt. Did that and got conformation the same day.
Still waiting for the fridge to be delivered.

Our 2 fridges arrived within 4 weeks.. They look very nice now that they're full of wine. Scheme has been so successful, Treasury wines want to repeat it in Canada, USA, and uk.

Sadly the mistake I made was not to photocopy the receipt. I sent the original as per the instructions.
I do have DM showing on a CC statement but that may not be enough.
Will update my predicament after I ring Penfolds later this morning.

Great news!

I just spoke to Chris, a very helpful and friendly fellow. Chris told me that I am not the only one whose receipt has been lost in transit. He asked for an approximate date when I purchased the wine, what I purchased and where from and when I submitted my claim. Having correctly answered these questions he told me that my fridge will be on its way shortly :p

An email has already been received confirming my claim.
Well done Chris. Maybe he should get a job working for an airline - no names mentioned ;)

As a side note, this is why I always scan copies of receipts as they have a nasty habit of either fading or going missing.
