Qatar Airways status match to Virgin Australia

Great news for all QR Plats! Fresh off the blower with QPC and they have confirmed that all QR Plats will receive a 3 month status extension no matter how many Qpoints you did or did not earn in 2022, or in fact whether you received the official extension email or not. As an extension, it does not refresh any QCredits or other bennies aside from status. Our accounts will updated to reflect 31-Mar-23 expiry on 1st Jan 2023.

I can already hear Karen and Ken dishing out the attitude upon entry to the MEL/SYD QF First Lounges. Enjoy the Salt n Pepper squid while you still can!

Yay now I can enjoy the First Class lounge at Kuala Lumpur!

Thanks for doing the leg work on this. I have been checking my account periodically, and with no email received I assumed I had missed out, so this is welcome news.

Great news! Any chance QR mentioned what's the plan post Mar-23 extension? Is there any possibility for either a reduced requalification requirement or an extension by flying on QR metal within a designated period?

No mention. But anything’s possible in these uncertain economic and social times.

True to their word, my QR Platinum has been extended to 31st March 2023. Good work QR!

Shame I have no plans to use it while burning all my KrisFlyer miles this year.

Likewise with gold, though I never received an email. My lounge passes also extended until 1 April 2023.

Also no plan to use though as VA extended through June and QFF gold still ticking over.

I didn't receive an email but has been extended. It came in handy a couple of weeks ago to get me into a better lounge at LGW

Currently in the F Lounge in Singapore. Surprisingly no access issues flying out of MEL (was even able to get a massage), and no entry issues in SIN either. Crediting to QFF on the boarding pass, just showed my digital card at each lounge.

If I’m reading it correctly, recently extended Qatar Platinum/OWE can be yours for another 12 months for (up to) $6000 USD (400x $15 USD). There are also supposed purchase limits of 150 for Platinum in the T&Cs which seem to contradict. I assume we still need the 4 flights on QR metal as well.

Was nice while it lasted. Pass For me.

Can I please check if that is verified and confirmed by QR ? I am in the same boat with 31st Mar 2023 Expiry and have QR flights booked for 6th and 16th Apr 2023.
I wonder if contacting them and explaining your situation might get them to drag out your status extension one more month. At the end of the day you have booked flights with them and that is what they wanted when you did status match in the first place.

Can only try I guess but they didn’t only recently send out another offer to members with reduced requirements to maintain status so I can’t see them budging any further

Just noticed my Qatar Platinum status now expires end of December 2023 but no email from them

I like Qatar as an airline and the fact they fly in and out of Adelaide means I might look at some flights with them this year.
