Qatar Airways status match to Virgin Australia

Is there any email sent by QR to acknowledge receipt of the status match request?
I have received nothing from them other than one welcoming me to Privilege Club.
The acknowledgement email referred to above came first thing this morning
I applied a few hours after Goldmember flagged it
I sent a screenshot of my activity rather than statements and they acknowledged this

Ugh. Just copied and pasted the link only to be welcomed with the message that this promotion has ended. Any thoughts on just emailing the information directly? If so, what specifically was required and what was the email? Thanks for your help.

re:
This promotion has now ended.
You can still join Privilege Club today and enjoy 2,000 bonus Qmiles on your first flight as a Privilege Club member.

I applied for the match Monday but didn't receive an acknowledgement either.
I didn't get an email receipt when I sent off my application, but I suspect we'll find out if we're successful within the next week. In the terms and conditions it says, "Qualifying match recipients will be upgraded within 10 days of the receipt of the documents." Don't panic!

I just returned to the webpage to check the terms and conditions and it says that the offer has expired, even though in the terms and conditions it says applications should "provide the documents on or before 20 May 2020, 11.59 PM Doha time." I wonder if they've been overwhelmed by applicants and have decided to end the offer early.

Has anyone got reply yet- also just curious how do we know if email has been received as there hasn't been any acknowledgement email received

I’d love to be a fly on the wall at Qantas HQ when they discuss this!

What in it for them?

They get to deliver benefits (and costs) in their premium lounges to the Virgin refugees gifted their top tier status while their One World “partner” gets the international business sectors. Qantas pick up some domestic flights, maybe - which they probably would have got anyway as Virgin restructures after the buyout

The joys of Airline alliance programmes
I was under the impression that QF could charge QR for the lounge visit (if not on a QF J or F flight)

So all of us VA refugees switching across to QF, can we do this?

1) Enter QR FF number in QF booking
2) Get into lounge
3) Change FF number at lounge service desk in QF booking to QFF
4) Collect QFF points

Seems you just answered your own question.

What's in it for QF? They pick up more passengers. They'll be needing them as AJ stated on morning TV. They need passengers to get their 220 planes & employees working again.

Us V1 refugees fly QF & with our matched Status can join you in the lounge as we've both flown plenty, just different metal over past 12months.

I thought that too. It made me wonder why Qatar would offer a status match to Australians who are unlikely to be able to fly internationally (or at least to destinations serviced by Qatar) within the next year.

I'll certainly be looking at QF for international trips for as long as the status remains. Would not have done so without this. Might be enough to move a few VA WPs from Etihad too.

Has anyone had a responses from QR?

I got a reply last night saying my match had been rejected because I'd only included screenshots from my Velocity account, plus a screenshot of my digital membership card.

I replied with a print to PDF copy of my Velocity activity, along with a photo of my physical membership card and am eagerly awaiting another response.

They'll be needing them as AJ stated on morning TV...….

Surely you're not falling for those crocodile tears from AJ? He'll be shedding plenty of them and in the background be launching strategies to make life very hard for Virgin to reach his most profitable customers

Good to hear some of the refugees intend to actually fly Qantas domestic and international - I just wonder how many would have been forced to do that anyway?

Don't get me wrong - it's great if you have Virgin status - very lucky QR have come to the party

If the migrating Virgins are part of a corporate then I suspect Qantas will be looking to invent corporates with sufficient spend to contract with them for a percentage of their business. In which case there's usually a good number of complimentary Gold and sometimes Platinum memberships thrown in with the deal - of course they have to make the cut in the corporate handout of those memberships

Hmm, that's what I did, especially with the card as my physical one says "Review date 29-April-2020" because of VA's admin they haven't sent me a new one but my digital one show's I've qualified until 2021.

Did they ask you to provide further copies or was it a flat rejection?

I think the main thing was my name missing from the screenshots. I did a print to PDF from the My Activity section which showed my first name, account number and status which I sent through after my initial rejection email. I'm hoping that's enough to get me the match!

Here's the exact email they sent:
Thank you for your email requesting tier status match.
We have received the screenshots provided from your end. However, we are unable to verify your name on the account statements provided from your end.

Fantastic on their end that they actually gave constructive feedback and a very fair time to send back documents to rectify. I honestly imagined just an auto-generated rejection email, but that is really great customer service in my eyes.

It’s a bit tricky when we don’t have our April statements yet. I sent a print preview version of my March email statement. The emailed statement only has those bubbles of earned points, so I added a screenshot of the activity over that time as well. The activity screenshot only has my initials and point balance at the top though. I hope that suffices. I had a flurry of international flights in feb, so including the itemised activity screenshot seemed like a sensible move.

Gutted I only saw this after the promotion had ended!
You could always send in the docs anyway. The promotion terms and conditions say that it closes 11:59pm 20 May Doha time. It’s only 6:25am in Doha. It might be worth a shot.

So, How did anyone send in copies of statements other than screenshots?
I went to both of the URLs below:
and

did a print to PDF on both pages and sent that through. When you go to print, it shows your name, status, membership number and last few account transactions or status (depending on the URL you go to). Hopefully that's enough to get the match. Otherwise I'm not sure what else we can do.
