QF A380 to DFW; QF9/10 retiming

QF might not make contact. These flights appear to be booked separately. The system isn't going to alert QF that the changes have affected the connection.

The OP is on an AA Award. He/she will receive a schedule change notification from AA.

As good as this news may seem to some, I have 3 trips booked to HKG in Oct, Nov and Feb all in F.
"NOT HAPPY JAN":evil::evil::evil:.
Cant wait for the call from QF, downgrading me to an old Mk1 bed.

I'm in a similar position. This whole deal of needing to book a year ahead and then facing downgrades (including 747 J to A330 J) is getting pretty frustrating.

They look good at the moment. Waiting to get the DXB departure times confirmed.
...
I have estimated these based on the current flight timings.
I can envisage the QF1/QF10/QF9/QF2 rotation.

Code:
[SIZE=3] QF1 SYD-DXB : 15:50   - 00:35+1
 QF1 DXB-LHR : 02:15+1 - 06:45+1
QF10 LHR-DXB : 13:30+1 - 23:25+1
[B]QF10 DXB-MEL : 01:35+2 - 20:55+2[/B]
 QF9 MEL-DXB : 22:55+2 - 07:05+3
[B] QF9 DXB-LHR : 09:10+3 - 13:40+3 [/B]
 QF2 LHR-DXB : 21:25+3 - 07:20+4
 QF2 DXB-SYD : 09:20+4 - 05:10+5[/SIZE]

Maybe I can organise the meetings to be in Dallas instead of Shenzen :confused:

The press release still suggests A380s and 747s to HKG, no mention of 330s.
So you might get the 747s with the old F which is still comfortable...

Pretty sure QF understand the CX product they are up against to HKG

But coming home, we'll land in MEL too late to get a connecting flight home. I had already booked the 9am MEL-BNE flight assuming a 5:10am arrival into MEL, and now we'll be arriving late the night before,
If the BNE-MEL-LHR outbound is all on the same award, yes, AA will contact about the change and may offer moving the BNE-MEL sector later.
Coming back, the post suggests MEL-BNE has been booked separately. If so, no one will know about the "connection" and any effect the change to QF10 may have on the connection isn't the worry of the airline. If the MEL-BNE flight was booked together with the QF10 flight and the change has resulted in an overnight stay, QF may put them up in a hotel.

What about putting some 747's into Honolulu?
there never seems to be enough seats, and the price reflects that.
If 747 operate, then it would also be more appealing in "J" class, in comparison to what's on offer now.

TQ

Excellent news on the retimed QF9/10!! Welcome back QF29/30!!

Which part of the post suggests MEL-BNE is a separate booking?

1. DFW deserves an F product and a capacity increase. Good move in that sense.
2. I liked the BNE pit-stop on the return.
3. If this cuts A380 service to HKG that would be a total joke. J has always been full when I've flown it.

Maybe they'll give JQ a pair of ERs to operate JQ1/2 with...

I did a simple search... QF127/128 will be 744 on only Tues-Weds (traditionally 'quiet' travel days)...the remaining days still A380.. I'm fairly confident those 744s will have the A380 style product (as 2 744ERS have been taken from the DFW route)... in effect, only losing 28 F/C and 12 J/C seats a week.. I think this will actually improve the yields on this route... that's a good thing in my books..just my opinion :):):)

The QF timetable has not yet been updated. Until all the changes have been loaded in the timetable, you can't say what days will/won't have x aircraft type on any possibly effected routes.

This is great news! Another 388 option to LOTFAP other than the ghastly LAX arrival.

Finally an enhancement we want to hear.

Will the QF7/8 timings likely change or remain the same? Obviously QF8 will now that it won't stop at BNE but how about QF7?

Why are they dropping the BNE QF8 stop? Just because a 388 can do DFW-SYD, shouldn't mean they have to drop the stop. Lots of people have been getting off QF8 in BNE and connecting to other flights there instead of going through SYD...

Hear hear! The direct DFW-BNE has been very popular. Unfortunately some QF people really are SYD-centric.

For me, DFW-BNE has been a far better overnight option than the shorter LAX-BNE.

Thats the current timetable, they will need to change more to fit it all in. Be interesting to see how it all pans out, especially with the wing spar fatigue checks not being mandated for the 6 yearly inspections.

On a more practical note to frequent flyers, goodbye to the last tag flight, even if it was from BNE.

This is awesome! I was about to book my next 3 trips to LHR on CX because I hate landing in MEL at 5 AM on the return leg.
