QF A380 to DFW; QF9/10 retiming

For HKG: Not sure what the loadings in F is usually, although going from the A380 to the refurbed 744 means a drop of F, 6 J seats, 1 Y+ seat, and 101 Y seats. Given the current market conditions in the region*, I think it is an excellent move. Apologies for those travelling in F.

Don't they use the 4 class 744s for SYD-HKG when not operating the 388, so F would still be available?

Looks like the QF9/10 schedules are live. Just looked at dates in August in E/F and it's showing the new departure times. Nothing on the 7/8 services yet - except the removal of the Tuesday flights.

Re: QF9 / 10 retiming in November 2014

So, obviously the retiming has now happened.. And My Bookings reflects this. Only problem is I have overlapping flights (surprised the system allows this). So off to call AA I go.

Re: QF9 / 10 retiming in November 2014

So no more QF8 from the US to BNE to SYD then, ...?
Must check the schedule for 2015.
I want to do the QF in 380 business if it comes via BNE, (dom pax on an int sector).

Re: QF9 / 10 retiming in November 2014

just got off the phone to QF.
rebooked my QF9 to the day before (august - anyseat award in first)
Tried twice to get onto the emirates flights , but was told no way, not as an award seat.
(have received the reschedule email from qantas)

Cant change the return QF10 yet, as still not updated in my booking (classic award in J)
Looks like ill have to QF2 it home.
(yet to receive the reschedule email from qantas)

(Booked as two separate bookings)

No, the QF8 will now go directly DFW-SYD. No stop in BNE - unfortunately!

Re: QF9 / 10 retiming in November 2014

Can Red Roo or someone confirm what may or may not happen to my Tuesday 23rd September flight from SYD-DFW on QF7.

Good news for a moderately frequent traveller to the US. I can bypass LAX totally :) (I do feel for those who use/like QF8 to BNE, however). Good stuff QF!!!

I was looking at the commercial policy document:

QF9/QF10 MELBOURNE-LONDON SCHEDULE CHANGE.

I wonder at the short period for Qantas to pay accommodation for the now late arrivals into MEL.

Customers connecting in MEL from QF10 to ADL / AKL / ASP / CBR / DPO / HBA / LST / MQL / WLG on the following dates are eligible for overnight accommodation in MEL if required:
  • QF10 departing LHR between 21 July and 4 August 2014 AND/OR
  • QF10 departing DXB between 22 July and 5 August 2014 AND
  • QF10 arriving into MEL between 22 July and 5 August 2014 (night where accommodation is provided) AND
  • Connecting flights departing MEL between 23 July and 6 August 2014

Another point to consider - if you try a booking LHR to BNE, the only option it will give you is via Mel, it will not allow via Syd. Wonder whether this will change or they force BNE customers to pay overnight in Melbourne or just not offer award to Bne ( thus forcing people to fly at own expense SYD/MEL to BNE, and QF save on chauffeur as well for premium cabine

Just thoughts for pondering

The A380s don't start until 29 September, so they probably won't drop the Tuesday flights until that date.

You'll really need to wait until the new schedules are loaded to see what's happening. That will be no later than Wednesday of next week (probably much sooner, if the QF 9/10 upload is anything to go by).

I could read 11 pages of this thread or just ask. We're on QF8 down to Sydney on Nov 6. I haven't had any notification from QF from that this will change. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see what will happen with that flight as it's a connection to our flight to Hong Kong

QF will most likely offer you an alternative BNE-SYD in which case you will need to transfer from Dom-Int at Sydney (requiring a transfer bus = PITA). Or you can ask for refund.

You will just be moved on to a domestic connection, which would happen anyway if the incoming QF8 was late. The downside being you have to deal with the awful terminal transfer at Sydney!

They will put you on a domestic flight, if in PE it will revert to Y with no compensation IIRC

and reading a bit more of this the A380 on our flight to Hong Kong might also be replaced. So much for flying PE all the way there and back :(
