QF Double Status Credits (SC) offer for all :)

Well if vouchers bought during the promo period but used to purchase tickets afterwards qualify I'd definitely consider that option. Wouldn't want to get them and then find I can't get the double SC though.

this is not guaranteed to work at all and I wouldn't want to bank my status or expectations on it.

Here's my strategy on this. I figure out how many trips I may be up for at the very least by say the end of the year, and since I want to avoid CC fees every time which currently is a feature of the vouchers, then I will purchase those vouchers

now with something like the double points poromo, or this DSC promo, I buy some vouchers with the above criteria since I plan to fly them anyway.. I buy smaller vouchers as a base.

this way my risk is small -

if I use the vouchers for my flights then I've lost nothing
if I use the vouchers for flights and get DSC - then that's a bonus!
if Isomehow can't use the vouchers (unlikely) then I could always offer them to someone else (I'm only talking 4 or 5 here, not hundreds :D ) and use and DSC is not relevant
and in the extreme case of not being able to use them for something then I have only lost $100 or $200, but if I couldn't even book a MEL-SYD r/t or something to use then things in life are WAY more serious than worrying about travel IMHO

so basically that's my strategy (similar to the Christmas bonus points for vouchers promos)

everyone else's mileage will vary of course. This approach may not be for all :)

Can you use multiple vouchers for the one flight or is it one per flight?

If the voucher isn't enough can you pay the rest using CC? If the voucher doesn't cover it all would this affect the date?

Hi fellow AFF members.

Hoping some of you well travelled members can help. I registered for the double SC offer this morning. I currently have a mid May flight PER-SYD booked about 6 weeks ago through work travel agent. Will that flight qualify or will only flights booked between now and 4th May qualify? If the current flight doesn't qualify, is there any way of getting it to qualify for the 2SC offer?

Furthermore, anniversary is at the end of July, anticipating to get to around 900-1000 points by end of July. My question is, is it worth booking a trip under the 2SC offer for a status run whilst I'm in SYD in mid-May? Thinking SYD-BRI-CNS return in J as that looks to give 400SC with the 2SC offer however that flight will cost close to $2k! Any status runs starting from PER is poor value. Never been WP, is it worth the run to gain WP? Any other thoughts for lower cost status run? I looked into PER-BRI-CNS return in Y (if I plan that for July) and 2 trips will collect decent SCs as well, under the 2SC deal.

I guess I could buy a small number of vouchers like you suggest. Low risk and if it turns out there is no double SC it can't hurt.

I'm putting it out there that I am CERTAIN that QFLink - eastern, sunstate etc and JetConnect WILL QUALIFY.

I think the "fact" that the calculator doesn't give anything is a furphy and another QF IT fail.

there is NOTHING in the T&C that precludes it (yes the bs about "partner airlines" but it goes on to say such as JQ etc)

if QF* and jetconnect flights are somehow not included that would be insane, and you'd open up all kinds of claims they can't defend. I mean jetconnect a/c have QANTAS on them and it is QF metal operated by cheaper crews. I mean that's NOTHING to do with the passenger.

I would be gobsmacked if this was an issue and frankly I think it's just another confusion.

So for mine, those flights will be A-OK.

I mean half the QF regional network wouldn't apply if it was the case, and that's plainly rubbish.

my 5 simpler and fairly rounded up cents worth.

Absolutely correct

Looks like we're plucking the goose that lays the golden eggs ready to go into the oven. Enjoy the meal...

DO you think there are any restrictions on using Aquire discounts and getting the DSC's?

Im looking at a crazy run in J SYD - MEL - ADL - MEL - AKL - SYD - ADL - SYD. All in 1 weekend with no hotel in between.
Very strange though i can get this routing on this weekend and the next but anything after that and it flip's out (when using multi booking for SYD - ADL, ADL - AKL, AKL - ADL, ADL - SYD)

Book as 2 returns. SYD-ADL-SYD and ADL-AKL-ADL.
Routing SYD-MEL-ADL probably bumps up your cost a lot. I'm not sure it'd be worth it. Not very cost effective.
I'd recommend looking for ADL-BNE-AKL options. This should be your cost effective SC.

ah - I will rephrase it - only Mr FM and Dr Fm got an email with an offer. and a register button.

I'm still not getting it. There is a register button available to everyone on the website.

Me either. Apparently I too received an email targeted offer, where Mrs GPH didn't.

Your mid May flight booked before the offer will not qualify for double SC's.

To benefit from this offer you would need to cancel it (not turn it into a voucher and rebook with the voucher) then do a whole new booking during the booking period. If there are cancellation fees this may not be worth it.

Deuteros,

I would encourage the reading of this thread from the start Its only 24hrs old. All your questions have been answered.
The further east you are the cheaper the SC. East coast SC cheaper that from PER especially going further east to NZ.

In terms of value (again see earlier posts ) assume $4-5 per SC after DSC applied.
400SC post DSC will require around $2k

Value proposition - only you can answer whether $2k is worth the experience.

I'm with RichardMEL in that I believe Qantaslink flights are included. I note that in the promo calculator it says *Cities not covered by Qantas Airways of which NTL and ARM and a whole bunch of other regional cities that have only Qantaslink don't have the asterisk and when you click the "only show cities covered by Qantas Airways" checkbox they still show in the list. Others served only by Jetstar, for example AVV and PPP, do have asterisks and disappear when the checkbox is clicked.

I conclude the promo calculator is inconsistent and hasn't been tested correctly. Shame Qantas rush through changes without proper validation which only causes confusion for customers.

QF Double Status Credit offer on OneWorld RTW?

Have just noticed the QF double status offer.

I am flying SYD-LHR-FCO and then TPA-IAH-JFK-LAX-BNE-NTL
in October/November this year.

Is there any reason why there would be a problem with getting the double status on a Oneworld explorer RTW ticket?

Thanks!

Re: QF Double Status Credit offer on OneWorld RTW?

The T&C's would be your first problem - apart from a few QF codeshares on AA, the flights must be QF operated and marketed to receive double SC's.

So, if I cancel an original refundable booking made previously on EK but QF code, then rebook same dates and destination but all on Qantas, this will qualify?

If you are reissued with a new booking ref, most likely. If you are not, unlikely.

Looks from their email is that they are trying to encourage QF SG members to book and fly (more) as much as possible to get them to make it to QF WP status.
Sitting on 470 QF SC right now.
Keeps mentioning 1400 (QF SC) and what the benefits of Platinum are.
Really?

I received the email and I am not Gold. My brother received the email and he has never flown. His email mentions benefits of Silver status.

This promotion is open to all. It is random who received the email. Qantas are not targeting a specific group. Qantas just wants to stimulate additional forward bookings.

I'm slightly confused by this talk of an email and ringing people. There is a banner advertisement on the Qantas website for this offer. It is a general offer to all. I'm not sure why there is any suggestion of a targeted email. Not sure why we need to ring to confirm anything when the T&Cs are clearly listed. This offer was only released overnight/this morning. I'm not sure why there is a problem with qantas expecting people to be able to read the T&Cs for themselves.

I'll be registering on the basis of the conditions when I finally get a chance to look into the details. Currently very busy getting ready for an impending international conference.

You'd probably need to be careful to make a completely new booking if cancelling. A credit voucher is likely to retain the original booking date and hence be ineligible for the bonus.

Changing a leg is unlikely to change the original booking date listed on your booking reference.

This was what was concerning me - leads me to believe not:
"If you change or cancel your initial qualifying booking and/or travel is completed outside the promotional period, this bonus offer will not apply."

I didn't receive the email. I am a lowly Bronze member who flies purely for leisure but am just about to qualify for Silver. I initially saw the offer as a Facebook ad which mentioned the benefits of Silver.

Has anyone else noticed that the fares increased at the same time the Double Status promotion was announced? I looked at Sydney-Melbourne flights for April 2017 over the weekend and the lowest Red e-Deal price at the time was $120. Now the same flights on the same days are $160.

I booked one Sydney-Melbourne flight over the weekend at the lower price and missed out on the DS. And my return flight won't be until 17 April 2017 (the day *after* the promotion ends) so I'll miss out there too!
