That wasn't my experience a few weeks ago. Rang up to cancel 10 mins after making a booking citing a mistake and telling them what it is, waiting 10 mins for call back and was told it would cost $400 to cancel regardless.

Was it a Qantas flight? Was it the same day? If yes then there should be no fee.

QF operated international with a QF marketed connecting flight and same day. Still quoted a fee for change.

I was "online chatting" with her for nearly an hour as she made various attempts to find out why the calculator on the promo page did not return DSC for BNE-NTL. She typed that she rang quite a few resources including the Loyalty team and finally came back with this "exclusion" reason. Not sure who her source for this final "reason" was but she typed that it's because BNE-NTL is operated by Sunstate. Other Qantaslink services however do earn DSC. Still not sure what makes Sunstate such a pariah in this promo.

The promo calculator doesn't show DSC for Armidale-Sydney which is QantasLink operated by Eastern Australia. I'm guessing either all Qantaslink is excluded (which I think should be explicity noted in the T&Cs since Qantaslink flights operate as QF in pretty all aspects) or the promo calculator is wrong.

looks like another one for Red Roo to check on.

Yes I would like confirmation before making any bookings.

DO you think there are any restrictions on using Aquire discounts and getting the DSC's?

Im looking at a crazy run in J SYD - MEL - ADL - MEL - AKL - SYD - ADL - SYD. All in 1 weekend with no hotel in between.
Very strange though i can get this routing on this weekend and the next but anything after that and it flip's out (when using multi booking for SYD - ADL, ADL - AKL, AKL - ADL, ADL - SYD)

I booked some CBR-MEL-HBA flights which are qantaslink. I'll be pretty annoyed if they don't earn DSCs, agree they should be clear on the T&Cs if qantaslink isn't counted for DSC. Clarification from Red Roo would certainly be appreciated.

<sigh>As expected I booked our J flights to CGK on Tuesday</sigh> ...and this was after holding off for a week to see if any offer was forthcoming. Oh well.

Is there general consensus that this offer will apply to flights booked using a flight voucher that was itself purchased during the booking period (28 Apr to 4 May)? If so, you wouldn't need to use the voucher to book the actual flight before 4 May right, since all the system looks at is the creation date of the voucher, which becomes the flight PNR? So could one then buy multiple flight vouchers during the booking period and save them to redeem against future flights with double status credits so long as they are flown during the given travel period (28 Apr 2016 to 16 Apr 2017)?

Looks from their email is that they are trying to encourage QF SG members to book and fly (more) as much as possible to get them to make it to QF WP status.
Sitting on 470 QF SC right now.
Keeps mentioning 1400 (QF SC) and what the benefits of Platinum are.

Does anyone know what the T&C mean by "initial qualifying booking":

If you change or cancel your initial qualifying booking and/or travel is completed outside the promotional period, this bonus offer will not apply.

does this mean if you change the first flight in the booking you won't get DSC?

Sdtravel, as mentioned on another thread, no QF direct flights from ADL - AKL. Surprised you could see it on QF website one weekend ... wink wink, maybe QF is about to do something "ultra special".
A 737 from ADL - AKL once off perhaps?
If you really want to stretch it, go PER - AKL.
Ie, SYD - MEL - PER - AKL - PER - BNE - SYD all in J.
Try for this upcoming Christmas.
JQ did fly ADL - AKL for a while last year.
Can't remember if it carried its own flight number, or if it had a QF flight number too.

I'm not sure if this question has been answered already:
Can I use a gift voucher that I bought months ago, or do I need to pay outright in the promotion period?
thanks.

I seems Qantaslink is ineligible, which is a bit strange.

Yes I have and flying on Sunday I am 99.8% sure this will work

As with acquire discounts and the like I don't see why that would be an issue - these are payment forms or stuff to do with payment, nothing in the T&C excludes how it's paid for. I'd expect a (new style) ASA to also get DSC.

I'm putting it out there that I am CERTAIN that QFLink - eastern, sunstate etc and JetConnect WILL QUALIFY.

I think the "fact" that the calculator doesn't give anything is a furphy and another QF IT fail.

there is NOTHING in the T&C that precludes it (yes the bs about "partner airlines" but it goes on to say such as JQ etc)

if QF* and jetconnect flights are somehow not included that would be insane, and you'd open up all kinds of claims they can't defend. I mean jetconnect a/c have QANTAS on them and it is QF metal operated by cheaper crews. I mean that's NOTHING to do with the passenger.

I would be gobsmacked if this was an issue and frankly I think it's just another confusion.

So for mine, those flights will be A-OK.

I mean half the QF regional network wouldn't apply if it was the case, and that's plainly rubbish.

my 5 simpler and fairly rounded up cents worth.

I totally agree with you. I'd be gobsmacked if QFlink didn't qualify, given they qualify every other time as QF flights on QF metal (included for P1 qualification etc). QFlink is QF metal every other time.

im on BNE-NTL on Sunday but guessing I won't know for sure for a few weeks until the SC credit.

I guess you're answering the first question of my (long-winded) post? :p

Much obliged if you could please post back following your travels when the activity has posted.

for sure but note that with the recent double points promo, for which I did the same thing, they did not post until around 3 weeks post, so it could be awhile - which doesn't help anyone if they don't post before the 4th but for sure I'll report back :)

Ah I had two flights registered for the double points offer; the bonus for one posted on the fifth day following the flight and the other just three days after. I was mighty impressed!

Like you I'm also pretty sure that flights booked with vouchers purchased and redeemed during the offer booking period will qualify. It's when you redeem those vouchers after the booking period that I'm worried might not qualify, and this is what's giving me pause about splurging a whole heap of money on vouchers now.

After catching up on the thread, there seems to be two open items that it would be VERY useful for RedRoo to confirm.

1. If you register and book a flight in the qualifying period, but later change the date (but still fly before the flight deadline), the flight will or will not earn double SC.

2. Will QantasLink flights be considered QF metal?

Thanks RedRoo but I still don't know when I will be flying again (surgery)

Happy wandering

Fred

As with the double points promo I am fairly sure it will work for flights booked post May 4 with vouchers purchsed prior, but if it doesn't well... it's worth trying so I have gotten some extra vouchers - at the very least one does away with the CC fee so already a win I reckon.

I'm about 80% sure it would work :)

T&C seem to address this situation.

Full or part travel of an itinerary is eligible only if you book and travel within the promotional dates as listed above. If you change or cancel your initial qualifying booking and/or travel is completed outside the promotional period, this bonus offer will not apply

So I read 2 things - as long as flights are between April 28 and April 16, 2017 they qualify
if you somehow had a booking (or changed it) to say leave on 15 April 2017 and return on 18 April 2017, the outbound sector(s) would count, but not the inbound.

And-

if you have a booking made during the eligible period (ie: April 28-May 4, 2016) for flights between April 28, 2016 and April 16, 2017 but then change it (eg: extend the return beyond April 16) tha changed sector won't qualify, but if you change it and flights are still within the period (eg: book flights for Oct 1-10 this year, and change to Nov 1-10 then they would still qualify)

I think the wording is reasonably clear to me on this.

As it is booking now you can't book past APril 16th due to the QF Amadeus ticketing limit anyway so sure you could book flights for say early April next year, then change them, but the wording still suggests any sectors flown between now and April 16, 2017 will get DSC

further if you cancel a booking on say May 8, even if you rebook same flights obviously you won't get any DSC, and any residual voucher issued wouldn't count either.
