For those interested (I've done EKF A380 twice in the last few months haha) in doing something different, there's also a sale in EK F on their 777-300ER from Christchurch to SYD $898.

Is that NZD?

Jumped on a couple of these again, if you are able to nest the flights and book a return from NZ it's similar price return SYD-AKL In F (about $400 less than booking SYD-AKL on its own).

did u guys normally went for a day trip only ?
if yes, just hang around the airport/lounge ?

I've done both. :) There's not a huge amount to do in AKL I'm afraid... It's a pity EK didn't fly to Queenstown.

Are the EK 777 F seats on the CHC routes the same as the A380 suite or an older seat type? Cheers

How much time do you need for a turn-around in AKL?

I was looking at BNE -> SYD (first lounge) -> AKL (LAN / QF321), which gets in at 16:45. But the return EK flight direct to BNE in first (QF8771) leaves at 18:10. That's not really enough time clear customs and check in again, is it? And looking at the AKL website I received the impression that even if you're just 'in transit' back to AU, you still have to clear customs and immigration.

The alternative for me would be to catch EK from SYD -> AKL (QF8764), which gets in at 14:00, which would be plenty of time, but since that leaves SYD so early, I'd miss the First Lounge on the way. :(

How fine have you cut it before?

And just to double-check, as long as the flight number is QF, we earn QF SCs and points, right? Regardless of the operator?

mrpooky.

the best I've managed without running was 8 minutes from gate, out through immigration, then back in and up in to the lounge. (that was using the elevator in NZ premium check-in area)

I've used the transfer line and just gone straight from the gate through to the lounge, on a SYD-AKL-SYD run before. It's just at the right of the main corridor. I've had a pre-printed boarding pass, or was met at the plane with a boarding pass for the next flight. I used the transfer/service desk in the area where gates 5,6,7,8,9,10 etc split off (just beyond the staircases down to 1,2,3,4).

When searching F AKL/SYD on the QF website, it's saying "Flight Search error:This fare option is not defined in our database. Please select another option.(#7110)"

J seems to work, but that's no fun!

Anyone else having this problem?

Yes. AKL -> BNE, too.

It was fine the night before last, but last night and today I've been getting this error. :(

The EK F trans-Tasman sale is back on for flights from first week of February. I just grabbed some more F-goodness!

The only trick is you need to book by phone because the website continues to display the "Flight Search error"

I successfully booked F on 18th. Trouble is, now Qantas site is stuck on NZ.

Top of screen should be a "little flag" with country next to it. Click on that and country selection will appear.

Yep. Sure. Which I click. But next time I go to the site -NZ appears back.
