But there is Tony Hancocks Concorde Bar.Only for F pax and BA elites.Keep all those other OW elites out.:p;)

Only pax flying F on BA is my understanding?? So QF F pax won't get into the Concorde room.

Here's a little more on the SIN BA Concorde Bar, courtesy of AusBT, back when it was shiny and new:
https://www.ausbt.com.au/inside-british-airways-first-class-concorde-bar-at-singapore-airport

BA F PAX, Concorde Room Card (BA GGL), and BA Premier card (like BA CL?) only.

Cheers,
Matt.

I wonder if they will improve the meals on the A380s back to Oz in the evenings. Supper on a flight departing 19:30 is very poor. Will be a disappointing F experience if so - though I appreciate a lot of people will just want to sleep.

Yes if you live in, or have been in Asia for some time, sleeping at 19:30 can be very difficult. SQ serve full dinner on their 9pm's to AU, reverting to single meal (supper or breakfast) service on their midnight departures. Those connecting from LHR will be looking for lunch :p

Some people actually like living in Adelaide despite the disadvantages of QF having no direct international flights

I would like the QF81/82 ADLSIN restored purely so the company restores international presence in South Australia. Personally, as I have discussed with several members, I have no issue connecting internationally via SYD or MEL because we usually get the same fares to Asia ex-ADL as the east coasters do and, therefore, a 'free' 80 SC when flying in J.

Don't get me wrong - I would love international flights from ADL but I get a bit sick of the ADL bashers as though it has nothing going for it

So, what Qantas needs is a hub where it can fly passengers from Australia on Qantas metal and then move them onto multiple destinations using Qantas metal or partner metal.
Oh wait..............that is Dubai.......not Singapore.

Well QF wants those of us who want to fly at the pointy end to pay for J/F rather than relying on upgrades.

Yes. Of course. You have just nailed the major beef for me I realise. I can't apply for points upgrades direct out of Adelaide.

Does the 737Max have the range? That may be the opportunity balancing capacity and range.

I think it does. Can't find the reference, but recently read an article about SilkAir's acquisition of 737Max aircraft and it suggested they have the range to cover all of Australia, including HBA, from SIN.

The reasonable thing for QF to do re SIN lounges is either strike a deal or have an option for it's F and possibly CL/P1 pax to use another space - be it EK, or the BA CCR (sorry TonyH and others!) or something else. Dumping 2 380 loads of pax into an already crowded lounge is already going to be a strain and you'd think with the resumption of full F service to SIN (at least to/from LHR/SYD/MEL) they would work to have an option.

Note.. I said the "reasonable" thing... which doesn't have to equal what will happen !

Boeing quoted 737 MAX ranges

MAX 7 7084km (7251km by 2021)
MAX 8 6510km (6690km by 2021)
MAX 200 5000km (high density MAX 8 version)
MAX 9 6510km (6676km by 2021)
MAX 10 5960km

737-8ERX (proposed) 7400km

Back in the day when they had a bunch of flights landing and departing to Europe or various OZ ports within a 2 hour window the joint BA/QF J & F lounges used to get pretty busy, I've not been to the new J lounge at Singapore but it does sound like it might struggle with all pax that have access.

Thanks for the figures. For reference ADL-SIN is 5393, so that only takes out the MAX200.

I've flown EK and SQ F in and out of SIN in previous years. I'm more than happy with QF's J product when it is just to SIN but if going on to LHR then F is certainly preferable. But QF's won't be competitive with SQ if the lounge situation for F pax (and P1s) isn't improved, nor with either SQ or EK if the food isn't improved substantially.

Still hoping they take the opportunity to refresh the F soft product - but not holding my breath.

The current SIN QF departures are:
QF72 1830
QF36 1955
QF82 2020
QF52 2050
QF38 2350
QF6 2355

The lounge opens at 1430 and closes when QF6 and 38 are called for boarding. It starts getting busy around 1900 when the QF36 pax are there and the QF52 and 82 pax start arriving. Once the BNE and 1st SYD flights board.

How do the average loads of status and class pax on 3 A330s compare to 1 A330 and 2 A380s?

I've done some 'back of an envelope' kind of stuff using Excel, presuming all J/F pax per a/c type, and 20% of Y+/Y pax are eligible to visit the lounge. All are worst case scenario / full load. In the model, the PAX on all flights start trickling into the lounge up to 4 hours prior departure, with the majority turning up in the period 2 to 1.5 hours prior their departure time, followed by the usual stragglers and duty free shoppers. All depart during the 30 mins prior to boarding.

QF SIN lounge capacity is from an AusBT article stating 460 guests is the threshold.

Keep in mind this is QF metal pax only, and so does not take into account the following:

- Other OW eligible pax in the lounge or stopping by (flights during this time from AY, BA, CX, JL & MH, though not all T1)
- The 20 or so 3K / JQ flights that depart SIN during this time (though not all from T1, I presume?)
- EK status PAX on EK's metal (4 flights) who are confused into thinking this is the better option for them.
