QF to give SCs for Classic Awards [Economy(X) only, booked by Dec 31]

I am looking at a classic award in F on EK since I am unemployed from Friday so have some time on my hands.

Yes, the unemployed have a lot of time to kill and travel is definitely a good way to do that.

I'm wondering with the several million members signed when Woollies came on board up they have a big liability showing and want to encourage people to burn some to keep points balances under control.

Just a thought.

I like to think this is because I suggested that it would be good if classic awards earned SCs at the Rockpool lunch in Melbourne a few weeks ago . I was quite surprised at the time that the response wasn't negative.

With the chance to earn extra SCs across the board I wonder whether the earning levels to get to each tier might get 'enhanced' too? It could mean a lot more WPs and others than we have now.

I think anyone who chases status like that already knows about MASAs etc anyway.

Will observe how this pans out with interest having stopped booking QF since MASA's went offline. Always had to spend more points and $$ for the privilege of flying QF so hopefully this latest creative change will have a positive win / win outcome.

I'd love to see some clarty on when this is kicking off.. I am 145 SC's short of qualifying for WP for the first time.... with no travel plans before expiry at the end of November...

I checked my profile settings with Qantas.com and found I was unsubscribed for every option bar one (so now I checked them all!), so that's likely why I have been missing so many QF offers......maybe you too....

PS I got the email at~ 1300 yet mrsdrron as WP hasn't yet received it even though she does get all the QF emails.

I'm pretty sure there are more tick boxes now than last time I looked in that section...maybe some peoples (me included) were reset with the last QF website update, or the options were simpler before the update prompting the more detailed options to be defaulted to off?

Hopefully fixed now I've (we've) noticed them!

If this is linked to higher SC thresholds for status attainment or increasing classic redemption rates it will be yet another bull**** enhancement. I'm hoping QF surprises the doubters and makes a genuine improvement to the customer offering.

Red Roo, I don't suppose you have any information to hand about whether this is here to stay or not?

I'm not sure that it's going to swell the ranks of status all that much. Really, only a few people really get what SCs are about, and most think that it's unattainable. It still takes a lot of flying for people to get to WP unless you're ablle to secure lots of J or F flying.

The other question, Red Roo - what level will classic awards in Y earn - discount economy SCs or full economy SCs?

Anyone who earns enough points to attain status via this will already be flying enough to have some level of status anyway.

Aww Gee. What does a mASA booked in economy earn? Why would a classic be any different?

The classic award is cheaper than a masa. It is well known that qantas factor in the cost of points and SC when they model these things. While unlikely, there is no reason they should introduce a variation to SC earning for classic awards.
