I picked it up and posted earlier.
Try as I might, I am struggling to spot the difference!
I picked it up and posted earlier.
On one of the links to the agents site posted here the other day it showed a change to QF35 to a 10am departure. This then disappeared and it has remained at its usual time of 13:40 in the schedules and booking engine. Are we expecting this flight to go to 10 am or was that a mistake?
Still showing as retimed on the latest (V3) of the FAQ
I agree with you - I love Qantas - but that means I love the personnel not just the name......I have to say though all these changes have made me interested in seeing what Emirates is like. In the past I have automatically just booked through Qantas and sometimes flown BA if that was needed for a particular route. Now with so many fewer Qantas routes and so much less F, it will be interesting to see what Emirates is like. Although the FF program is fun, I have been thinking in the last few weeks that it really doesn't mean that much to me. I've been platinum for 7 months now and I am not seeing any difference to my flying, apart from a few more points which I don't value all that much anyway. I guess we will be able to go to the F lounge when we fly J to NZ in 2 weeks time, but we will be there in August when we fly F to Hong Kong, so how much F lounging do you need before it gets boring? So I suppose what I am saying is love Qantas, flown them pretty much exclusively for close to 40 years, but maybe it is time to branch out and see what others are like and not really worry about status or Life time gold. I think when flying F and J, platinum and gold benefits are pretty marginal.I hope this never comes true, the main reason why I choose to fly QF is because I like flying on a QF plane and experience the QF service, I don't mind codeshares for connecting flights but only when my QFF benefits are recognised (ie. Oneworld airline).
If there were no QF planes and everything was codeshare, i'd just go and find another airline that does fly its own planes to the destinations I want and move to their FF program.
It would be a sad day indeed, hope it never happens!
.......I know what you mean. I fly EK F all the time and now I just dread it. I recommend you just pick F on other carriers just to change the scenery. (I wonder what other firstworld problems there are to solve).I think when flying F and J, platinum and gold benefits are pretty marginal.
Or rather than risk missing the connection due to delayed arrival of the 06:00 flight (due to fog, congestion, etc) are put in the position of leaving home the previous day and overnighting in SYD or MEL....
Could you please provide references for this info. I'm trying to put something together.

browski,
I agree that for SYD / MEL residents the changes are positive.
- Lots more connections if flying on from SIN or HKG, even if on the compeition
- Arrive at a time where you can still go out for a proper evening meal ( always helps with jetlag)
It does however make it difficult for Adelaide, Wollongong, Newcastle or other regional residents who either face a 6am flight to make their connections into SYD and MEL and then limited lounge time.
Try booking QF from PER to HKG. The only options presented are red-eye from PER. And as I pointed out before, if PER-HKG was the first leg of an xONEx, that's an extra leg to account for.
If I can't fly QF int, why should I bother flying QF dom? With CX's timings from PER, they're not that attractive either, so that rules out OW.
What times do you suggest CX fly out of PER, don't they have a red eye and a mid morning departure ex-PER?
Seems to be one bad decision after another.
Wonder if EK will buy over QF eventually.
I see Garuda reacting quite fast.
Need someone in OW to step in and fill the gap.

Still no word what QF are going to do with my DRW-SIN-FRA return ... the prospect of either spending significant time in a 10 abreast EK 773 or heading down to SYD/MEL/PER is rather unappealing.
I am scratching my head. By your profile you live in Perth. Now Perth still has QF to Singapore, EK and QF code share to Europe via DXB but you have lost QF to Hong Kong.
In which case why is Garuda going to react, and what are they reacting to, and isn't Cathay OneWorld?
