Question about the forum software

At least AFF is consistent now with The Thread / Thread starter column not wrapping itself on the Today's Post and the New Posts views.

Can anyone help with this message I am receiving when I start up the laptop and log on to AFF?

"This website wants to run the following add-on: 'MSXML 3.0 SP 7' from 'Microsoft Corporation'. If you trust the website and the add-on and want to allow it to run, click here..."

Since noticing this message for the first time I did a google search and have downloaded and installed the MSXML parser on my laptop.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

When I open up the AFF a video advertisement for rugby automatically opens and plays. I have looked at the control panel to see how to stop this from happening, but no luck. The add is from MediaOne Network, and I joined as a Silver member to get away from these things. It remains slightly hidden in the top right corner of the page and the video can be started by clicking on it. Can anyone help as to how to stop the video/advert from opening.

This advert is coming in error. admin has been made aware of it and is dealing with the issue and it should be resolved later today

Dave

Apologies - that shouldn't have happened. Gold and Silver members shouldn't see any advertisements!

The error has been rectified.

I am one of the members that does not want to pay to remove advertisements. Cheap skate? Possibly!

Now I do not mind advertisements plastered all over my screen which I can choose to ignore. What I hate is flash advertisements appearing on my screen when I log on to AFF, following me around even when I scroll, and I have to click on a close button to remove them. And to make it worse, the activation of the flash advertisement appears right next to my scroll bar for the remainder of the session.

Looks like I will continue to play Diablo!

Likewise me. In this case, it's especially annoying that the close button isn't in the usual postion (top RH). A trap for the unwary.

I uploaded a new avatar the other day but I think I have done something wrong in the upload.

When I display the GIF image on my laptop the golfer is swinging the golf club!

I tracked down the avatar you use and tried this myself. When you upload it, it converts it from the GIF format to JPG format - which is why you lose the "action swing".

I've seen others with GIF's in their profiles, so not really sure why this occurs. Perhaps the B BB software doesn't like that particular GIF for some reason.

Something to check with Admin methinks...

Thanks for that analysis Mal.

My swing looks better at address anyway!

I have a feeling this site's Google ranking is growing higher and higher. Congrats to Admin :)

Why do I think this?

Quite a few recent posts that are similar to:

"How do I redeem points on your airline" or "How can I claim credit on flights I flew with you" etc etc etc.

Obviously keyword searches on things like "Qantas Frequent Flyer" are getting high rankings for this site.

I just tried "qantas frequent flyer" and AFF has the third ranking! Impressive.

Here are the results for some other terms:

"anz credit card" third result.

"airpoints" gets 5th ranked search results.

"frequent flyer" gets third billing.

"status credits" also gets third result.

And lastly, my personal favourite: "qantas pub" 1st and 2nd ranked results...

How did anyone post anything in the last 24 hours?? As far as I could tell, the site was dead (and given some of the responses I got from the site yesterday, something bad happened)
