You're on! Do you get to MEL much?
Don't get to MEL that often. Planning a golf getaway in March, probably Sat-Fri and then there is ozfest IV end of May. We'll catch up again somewhere.

Just when I was getting used to the format of the screen display of Today's Posts and New Posts the format of Today's Posts has changed. It no longer fits on my IE window and I have to use the horizontal scroll bars more.

Oh well! I guess someone must be happy with the changes. And no I don't want to use a full size window as I like to cascade the open windows on the screen.

Fits just fine on my 1920x1200 screen :p .

Are you sure? ;) Forget my preference for cascading windows but let's examine 1024x768 screen.

New Posts fits perfectly on the screen but Today's Posts does not. Makes it very difficult to navigate the site. I think this change has been implemented today. Need to do some research to return it to the way it was yesterday.

Yep, the "Todays Posts" view certainly fits just dandy on my screen. No horizontal scroll bar showing up for me.

By the way, I am using Firefox 2.0.

Todays posts work well in Firefox but not in IE. I actually think there may be something wonky in the way IE is rendering the table.

Agree that in 1024x768 mode, Firefox 2.0 renders the 2 pages properly with no scroll bar, but IE 7 has a scroll bar. You can still see most of the pages though before scrolling.

Yes but why today? Why the difference between Today's Posts and New Posts? They both worked properly for a long time now. Must be some change to the software or to the way the advertising is displayed.

I am not about to do an IE test on AFF. Been using Firefox for some time now and now I almost despair in QP's where IE or nufin.

The main reason I started to use firefox was tabbed browsing which is great but I found a better reason in adblock.

No problems for me either. IE7 and Firefox 2.0 both display OK at 1400 x 1050 screen resolution

I get horizontal scroll bar for both Todays Posts and New Posts, but most info I use fits on the screen so rarely need to scroll.

I like to use both the History and Bookmarks/Favorites sidebars.

This screws up many sites that have software that does not account for the presence of a sidebar. Pertinent to this and related forums these sites include Expertflyer, FT, AFF & BA97.

I have similar problem on some sites with fat taskbar (several rows to deal with all the things I have running/open).

That is where a 1920 pixel wide screen comes in very handy. Lots of space for a sidebar and full view of the page. Just need to make sure I am wearing my glasses, as 1920 x 1200 on a 15.4" laptop screen makes for pretty small fonts  .

I have enough trouble at 1400 x 1050 on a 14" laptop.

There's a lot to be said for that last inch or so.

The problem fixed itself 5 minutes ago and has returned again.

The Thread / Thread starter column is not wrapping itself on the Today's Post view as it is on the New Posts view. Unless my IE6 is behaving in a very inconsistent manner I would still claim something's gone wrong in the forum software.

Oz_mark posted a good theory last night but must have deleted the post since.

I employ a 1152 x 864 resolution on a 17" 4:3 monitor.

Once upon a time I did use 1600 x 1200 but these days my eyes can't handle that.
