But then we are talking about inferior PC servers as opposed to sturdy AS400s....

Mal said:Aaah yes, AS/400's. I think a lot of them are now making great sturdy boat anchors and sturdy homes for fish as artificial reefs.
I don't think so Mal. It is still a very popular and reliable server. Is it i-series or e-series now but still basically the same operating system as the System/38 from the late 1970s. At its height if IBM took AS/400 out of its operation and created a separate company the AS/400 would have been the third largest computer company in the world. Anyway the future appears to be inferior operating systems and servers that require patches to be downloaded every few minutes for them to remain functional. Does the AS/400 also have better security where it much harder to hack into the network?Mal said:Aaah yes, AS/400's. I wish computer servers were as reliable as the old IBM systems. Windows truly sucks. Big time. :-|JohnK said:I don't think so Mal. It is still a very popular and reliable server. Is it i-series or e-series now but still basically the same operating system as the System/38 from the late 1970s.

I've often thought about getting myself an Apple computer, although I must say I found their recent Micro$oft-type behaviour of trying to induce iPod users into downloading/installing Safari a bit over the top. :-|simongr said:This is why we should live in an AppleWorld
There was time there that I was experiencing a GPF and/or blue/black screen of death on a regular basis. Now I have stopped installing new software it has become a little more stable but my PC still has its fair share of problems.Yada Yada said:I wish computer servers were as reliable as the old IBM systems.
