Roomba, Dysons, Thermomix and other household appliances

Co worker got a $2.5K robot vacuum for Chrissy and shes in love with it. She said its now her favourite child and she was sharing lots of photos and video of it. It mops and has a self filling/cleaning station for water and dirt ect.

Hubby has always held the belief that appliances are not appropriate for gifts but I love my gadgets and I dont like cut flowers.

Just before Christmas there was a bloke at the Good Guys buying his wife an appliance. It was unnerving meeting someone knowing they only had a few more days to live.
Gender roles aside, two transitions I made - from a cheap and nasty iron and vacuum to a(n expensive based on our circumstances) tefal and dyson - I'd take those as a gift any day of the week.

Unless it was given condescendingly.

Received the Instant Vortex Plus today and gave it a whirl with some onion rings and hash brown (only thing I had on hand from the freezer). Was surprised by how large the tray is, it would fit a whole chicken - although I prefer to roast chicken on my charcoal Weber.

I joined a couple of air fryer groups for recipes/how to - looking forward to trying stuffed chicken breast wrapped in bacon

We call our Robovac FRED, and have conversations about what FRED is doing. We haven't got to sharing photos or videos though, that's a bit creepy.

Air fryer chicken is excellent. Keeps moist. drumsticks marinated in soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce , olive oil plus P&S are brilliant. Phillips has an auto mode for both of these but I expect your will have as well.

Doing roast pork in AF tonight. Best cracking ever!

The Aldi boneless butterflied chicken cooks beautifully in it. As does a whole chook.

so wondering if I should get something other than Dyson.
I haven't had a Bissell vacuum, but had a Dyson stick vacuum which was useless and packed up pretty quick. Same experience with my daughter and brother in law. Vowed never to buy another Dyson. Had a Bissell carpet cleaner for 20 years without a hiccup and gave it away to a friend when I moved (no carpets in new place} and the receiver loves it.

A lot of them can talk to you (such as "returning to charge now"), but I believe the newer fancier ones you can talk to them - verbally give instruction on what you want them to do.
