Roomba, Dysons, Thermomix and other household appliances

The Dyson V15s Detect Submarine will “mop” and vacuum. The Wash G1 mops and “vacuums”. I wouldn’t go as far as to say that it’s a 2-in-1 mop + vacuum, but it does have the ability to pick up some loose debris.

Paid $770 with bonus set of rollers ($49 RRP), down from RRP $999. Like I said in my earlier post, admittedly not cheap and no way I’d buy it at full price. For $220 off RRP and a 45 day change of mind policy, I figured I’d give it a go.

I can live with the tank size. Main thing I wanted to highlight is that if you expect to get the job done on one tank - clean or dirty - then think again. Caveat emptor etc etc.

I just checked and I paid $1K with all the bits and the docking station - did you get the dock as well?

I must admit I haven't used the additional heads yet as we using it for quick cleanups around the house and the cleaner does the main floor clean

Yep, came with a dock. But then again, I thought the Wash G1 came with a dock regardless of where you purchased? The main difference with buying through Dyson directly is the bonus rollers.

Nah, go big, go commercial, save $$$

Problem Im finding with my KA is the head bobbles around when mixing dough. Seems to be a universal issue. Love my KA and will be putting it in for service but it doesnt seem to be the better one for doughs

When I was thinking about a mixer this was the choice I settled on. You won't find a bad review worldwide.
You have one? What colour did you go with?

I wish. :( But this is definitely the one I'll get when finances permit.
Meanwhile, today I used for the first time the Aldi mixer @Lynda2475 said was a goodun. We have an excess of bananas so tried a recipe I found in an old school recipe book.
This is the Aldi mixer. It's a bit flimsy.

Mine is a older Aldi model with heavy glass bowls and is very sturdy. Although i mostly use it for cake batter, buttercream icing and meringue.

Not sure I'm a fan of these mixers with lids, how do you add ingredients as you mix and scrape down sides etc?

Started by mixing butter and sugar which I put straight into bowl. Then add eggs one at a time which I added straight to bowl. Each time I did this I lifted the head of the mixer, thereby by-passing the lid. Next added the mashed bananas, again, lifted the lid. Then I folded in the flour/salt/bicarb with a spatula.
Just out of the air-fryer. I made a mistake and started it at 180c instead of 160C so top is a little 'dark'. Mixture doubled in height.
A bit embarrassed putting this up against Denali's masterpieces.
This is lunch sorted. ;)

As I always scream at the tv when watching cooking and baking shows and they mention something not looking perfect, who cares how it looks, how does it TASTE!???

Mr Denali has been talking about buying me a new phone for Christmas, which I do not care about, so I think Im going to tell him he can buy me the Ankarsrum 🤣

I also need to learn how to pronounce Ankarsrum (currently listening to youtube videos on it)

........
Can anyone tell me what the serrations on this knife are designed for? It's a Skyline (England). Was on a throw-out I walked past last week.
Bottom one looks like a bread blade, top one 5 day old bread. Then there's the serrated pointy blade.

Not the same maker but looks to to be a very similar knife - "Item - Vintage Wooden Handled Richardson of Sheffield Stainless Steel Triple Blade Serrated Bread/Utlilty Knife, Circa 1960/70s. This knife features three serrated blades, one is for cutting bread & similar, the blade at the top is for the cutting of frozen food and the small blade towards the tip for slicing."

My first thought was the sword in Highlander 🤣

...🤣

It is a Swedish company. Putting it into a translator you get something like An..char..schrum
It translates to "anchor room".

With everyone discussing their favourite mixers, I can show mine.

This year I upgraded from my old mixer (18 years old but still going strong) to a new model with more modern features. 18 years ago, paid around $14K for this one (Yamaha LS9-32):

And replaced it a few months back with this one for around $8K (Allen & Heath SQ7):

but had to build my own road case for it.
