RSA MEL F Lounge Qantas Official Response (Refused Drinks)

I think you have missed the post (among the 60 pages), where the OP said they were on a JQd fare - so buying a J fare wouldn't save them $6,000 to $8,000 .....

OK, so the concern relates an expected entitlement? My confusion / misunderstanding is due to the mention of the F-class fare in the OP's communication with QF.

That is correct.

The reference to Buying a First Class fare ( As I have done before) would have been clearer had I said So IF I purchased a First Class fare would I only be entitled to the 3 drinks and then allocated as 1 drink per hour on the flight in order to ensure compliance with RSA.

Sorry for the confusion.

Ok time for an update.

I had expected a response from Red Roo or the customer care yesterday, based on previous messages from Red Roo, however this has not happened. Have sent a reminder through to Red Roo. Will keep you informed once I get a response.

Whatever one thinks of the RSA issue, it's pretty poor customer service that they're taking this long to get back to you.

I have worked out why places that serve alcohol have a policy of RSA. It is because if they have customers like the previous posters to this thread (including me), the bar staff will get RSI which would be a breach of WHS. You cannot have no RSA leading to RSI and a breach of WHS can you?

LOL. Better get out the soap I feel. :) He's adopting 'polite' US manners, Sir.

This thread actually brings up a lot of thorny issues for any airline running a lounge, so I suspect there is a policy debate going on behind the scene

We are not BOGANS we are responsible people and frankly resent your comments

In the event that we where hell bent on consuming as much alcohol as possible in the time available surely 3 drinks in 105 minutes would have been a fail. We have provided details in a previous post in relation to our consumption, We are not hiding anything as your post suggests.

We complied with the RSA that was put on us we did not argue make a scene or become loud and obnoxious as we were already embarrassed by the manner in which the RSA gad ben done and did not want to attract any further attention to our selves.
not sure where i accused you of being bogans (maybe you can show me)...but I suspect, this is part of the issue,as some people have an ability to read things into comments that were actually questions..all I said was that the story makes no sense...and still makes no sense....even if there was no self serve wine (which I find hard to believe, as it was always there when I was in that lounge (after 11 am)....but maybe on this day they forgot to put it out )....but even so, why would they have this RSA defence, if in the business class lounge below it, has self serve ,with no limit to the wine consumption ?...and why would they threaten to not allow you onto the flight ?....makes absolutely no sense....something is missing, and I'm sorry that you can not fill in the gaps for me.....maybe some one from qantas can provide their side of the story so we can more clearly judge where the truth may lie (no pun intended)...

Ok

It is now Late Friday afternoon and No Contact from Customer Care and no response from Red Roo despite a promise to get back and 2 follow up messages.

Very Disappointing.

but sometimes the story doesn't make sense...and as Judge Judy says.
, if it doesn't make sense, then it isn't true (or at least, not the whole story....people are very good at leaving out the detail)....as I have stated, bottles of wine are available for self service, so the rule that was stated makes absolutely no sense (it was after 12pm, and wine is available for self serving...so why use RSA defence ?....something is fishy in the state of Denmark)

Your comments we found to be offensive insinuating that we where not telling the truth. For example we stated and have restated that there was NO Self Serve Wine available yet you clearly do not believe that and by doing so imply that we are telling lies. If you bother to read the thread properly you will see that other members have also confirmed that often self serve wine is not available in the F Lounge.

The reference to Bogans was based on how your comments re Judge Judy things not making sense means people are liars, made us feel.

I can assure you there is nothing that has been left out or embellished.

We have been regular customers in the lounge and have gotten to know a good number of the staff and have always been welcomed back with open arms and often a hug from the First Host.

That's exactly right, blaz. It makes no sense!!# Which is why we are hundreds of posts into this thread, largely awaiting a clarification to Ansett, who I'm hoping will share with us. The actions of the staff, as reported (and I have no doubt at all that Ansett has recounted it correctly, as have several others in this thread, with their experiences) seem to be off the rails.

The fact there is self serve around is not relevant, I suggest. The "RSA" angle is about the service of alcohol, not its consumption, although the staff seem to have conflated the two. If there is table service, as well as self serve, an RSA policy would influence the way you were served. Presumably another policy would have the staff stopping you from getting a noticeable skinful via self serve.

# Except, of course if the staff were in error. Goodness knows, I make mistakes in my professional work; I reckon everyone would. What we are up against here is a service industry situation with staff, probably a union, a service provider (Accor, or is it Sofitel?) to Qantas' lounge, probably an issue of inadequate training, and an airline trying to find an explanation without saying "the staff member was wrong" and by so doing lighting a couple of ancillary fires.

maybe some one from qantas can provide their side of the story so we can more clearly judge where the truth may lie (no pun intended)

But as I said, if you read what I actually said, then what you are claiming I "intended" is ridiculous ....I suspect that this is where the problem lies........you take something that was said, and turn it into what" you" think it actually means....you are not alone here...many people do this....life is often about perception...and the perception becomes their reality.

Are you two married?

Could the grammar police please look into this post? I believe over-use of the ellipsis ( including 4 or more dot versions) should be against the T&Cs of AFF. :) For correct use of the ellipsis, please see here.

Ok...so I just rang the first lounge in Melbourne...took me 2 seconds, and asked them if the wines are available for self serve every day, and her response was that yes, every single day !...no exception...and often they are put out as soon as there are enough guests, so from the early hours......so your perception that they were not out was incorrect. (as were all the others who were unaware of this)
