Umm. How about when they check the boarding pass at the front desk when entering the lounge.

But the question was "apart" from that.

In my dozens of visits, until fairly recently (maybe from 12 months ago?), if you ordered food, the wait staff would ask to see your BP. Lots of others noticed this too and the general opinion seemed to be that the staff needed to know if you had enough time to place an order before your boarding time.

The F Lounge would need to be re-branded as a CCR type lounge and excluded from OW access

Will never happen. How many QF flights have an F cabin? Bugger all......the lounge would be a ghost town filled with useless politicians.

Same as the CCR and PR then ;)

The CCR has been busy whenever I've been in there.....BA would have 10 F cabins for every one that QF offers.

BA's market is different - they have an airline that offers F to more than three destinations;) I'm sure they have their fair share of useless members of society in the premier ranks.

Well in that case, it wouldn't work considering the infrequency of QF F flights ;)

If WP lost F lounge access I would no longer bother with maintaining the status, so QF would actually lose a lot of my revenue. I would revert to BFOD/buying J tickets with Another Airline or Avianca miles etc.

What, in Britain :?: c'mon :!:

I eventually find all the lounge discussions quite strange. Why are people are so obsessed with lounge access and false perceptions of a freebie, I'm bloody-well sick of the places frankly and I quite often don't even bother. Yes useful when in transit such as grabbing a shower and a bite in SIN or HKG (these are the lounges that matter) but on departure from home such as from MEL or SYD, I find it doesn't really matter that much, it's just a place to sit for an hour. Generally I don't want someone hovering around me and serving me, quite happy with self-service in the J lounges in fact.

I love that this thread goes on even though it has been repudiated!

Love that people are openly discussing that it would be fine if JQ flights should all be punted (Which I would be fine with as well)

Wonder where QF gets it's ideas from ;).

Hello

I just joined this group as I saw this chat referenced on the frequent flyers australia facebook group I am a member of. This is my first post so forgive me for interrupting a more than lively chat!

Here goes - regardless of what is being said here, an acquaintance who is "in the know" (very "in the know") has confirmed this to me just last night when we were having dinner and generally chatting. The comment was passed that this although not being instigated till April/May 2014 (with some other changes that are NOT going to be LIKED by all but Chairmans Lounge and F travelers) regarding the flagship Qantas lounges.

I am just the messenger - don't kill me!

Upon discussion with the relevant management, I can confirm that this is a rumour and First Lounge access for Jetstar passengers remains as per the current program terms and conditions.

As with any business, cost is an important consideration. We continually look at ways to improve our products and services, and this includes effective management of resources. However the customer is, and will always be at the heart of what we do. This is reflected in the choice of popular brands we offer on board and in our amenity packs.

It’s disappointing to hear staff speaking of change in a negative context, particularly if they’re new to the team. Feedback and comments from this thread have been passed on as reference, and will be used towards internal communication with the teams concerned.

welcome to AFf and here's hoping you chose to stay with us!

as I mentioned earlier red roo's response was phrased in the present tense... 'lounge access remains as per the current rules...' but of course it doesn't say for how long, or rule out the possibility to change in the near future. 1 january is clearly not possible given the notice requirements. but April/may would seem more realistic.

as is often said... where there's smoke there's fire. i have trouble believing lounge staff would have just made this up?

anyway... this may be of use to some who might be considering a mileage run to reach platinum.

This thread looks like it is getting it's own life.

It just keeps coming back to life

Bit of CPR and off it goes again

It's because QF's "repudiations" have a habit of unwinding. They deny that it is happening, but not that they have it under consideration. I suspect that the rumours may even start with QF so that they can gauge the reaction and tweak what they have planned to try and lessen the outcry. Take ASA's for example.

I'd like to believe otherwise, but it is turning out that they are a devious lot who talk with forked tongue.

It's hard to interpret this quote ... but my guess is that the spa will be for F pax and CL only. Like they have in some other F lounge spas around the world...

Re: Rumour:[Denied by RR] Qantas to ban JQ SYD-MEL pax from F lounges & send to J lou

Based on the latest info, I wouldn't stop striving for WP based on JQ tag flights not receiving access, however if it was pulled for all partner/QF flights then it wouldn't be in keeping with the OneWorld program and I would reconsider flying extra (though I do like my Dom J lounges).

If the dining room became F/J and CL/P1 only, that would make sense but would also make me reconsider (not my loyalty mind you) striving for WP.

JQ is in a sort of limbo, it's connected as a partner so QF don't 'lose' market share. It's also part of OneWorld explorer fares that I'm sure many try to avoid. Considering its spread, I think in a broader sense that OneWorld should create a tier for LCC's that fits with lounge access and protections and JQ can join that. Throw in a little recognition and I think they'd have a real player. It might also solve the F issue if JQ ticket holders only got the sapphire lounge.

Agree

I'd even start flying Virgin again!!
