Re: Rumour:[Denied by RR] Qantas to ban JQ SYD-MEL pax from F lounges & send to J lou
I think if QF are having issues with the profitability of the F lounge and cost constraints then I would like to see them taking steps to ensure that a quality of service is maintained for the HVC who are in essence the intended market for the lounge. I am hoping that it doesn't come to it, but I think QF is going to need to rethink their lounge access arrangements etc. I think that lounge access should only be for WP travelling in J or F and then WP1, CL and F.
There are some important strategical considerations here:
- The #1 benefit of Platinum is access to F lounges/check in
- Accessing F lounge on a cheap JQ flight is not cheap for everyone. Let's consider some AFF do's - the last time I did this flight it was $650 in flights alone, all on QF/J*
- People aspire to get Platinum and spend meaningless $$$ flying to QF during that time. Without #1 benefit a lot of these would drop off (and also their CC points to QFF, their partner and so on...)
- The First lounges are not designed to be profit centres even though they may produce nominal revenues. It's the halo affect this has on the rest of the business that brings everything together and makes QFF work like a well oiled machine.
As pro-AFF members I am - there is one simple mod I think JQ/QF could make here.
- Make it no lounge entry at all on any JQ ticket (similar to JQ biz tickets) unless you pay for the add on (I can hear those hearts sinking ...sorry guys but it's true)
This means additional revenue that JQ could pass on to QF!
It would also mean price matched tiger tickets won't get you lounge access...
As for F lounge crowding... I've only had issues during school holidays. Kids take up more than 1 seat in the lounge..!
