>>>> ADDED 30 Sept 2010 <<<<

Background to this thread:

In a similar vein to the "Flight Availability / Upgrade Probability Help Desk" there has an increase in the posting of questions about specific seat allocation/availability on a flight. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with such queries. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.

This new consolidated thread is where you can ask questions about seating allocation/availability. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve usability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread:

Please post questions about availability of specific seats in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, Origin, Destination, date and cabin as applicable.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

VA publish all seat maps for their 332's as 2x2x2 until a day or so before the flight.

So really can't tell until maybe Tuesday.

Just wondering whether anyone is able to advise whether VA696 PER-MEL on 8 Nov is likely to be old config in J (2-3-2) or new config (2-2-2), or is it just the luck of the draw? (assuming the A330 doesn't get swapped out, of course - I hope not, as this is my first trip in J!!!)? Not able to access seat map for this flight as seat selection not working and also will not be able to do OLCI as it is part of an international itinerary, so have to check in at PER airport.

So is anyone able to advise on this one yet?

Cheers :)

Travelling with the family to the UK over Christmas (Mrs Lambchop, a 3yo and a 1yo in bassinet).

Am considering booking D,E & G in the hope of getting F as a spare seat/extra room - does anyone know if QF typically blocks that seat given the bassinet? Does QF block adjacent seats for SG or just WP? Or is some poor soul likely to get stuck in the middle of our (generally well behaved) family?

Hello all and thanks for running this very useful thread.

This one is a long way off but I am getting a very odd seat map from QF for JNB on QF63 19.7.14. Looks like it is an old aicraft with the F cabin but the business layout is just weird with nothing on the starboard side of the aircraft. Upstairs there is noting on the portside bar row 17.

Obviously if possible I would like the old F cabin as it still beats Skybed mkII.

Has this recently changed? Definitely seen 2-3-2 a week or two out. I've also seen it change 2-3-2 to 2-2-2 and back again within a week prior.

If they have begun doing this it is good, however I would still not be confident.

Back down the back of the bus for my trip at the end of the year. QF107 on 11 December is looking pretty empty at the moment. Am I naive to hope that all those back rows will remain empty for poor mans business class?

A month out and with O9/X9? - that indicates very eempty - there is a good chance there would be quite a few spares seats.

Don't know that one. Expert Flyer also shows the JK seats missing from rows 23 to 26.

Just booked PE SYD-NRT-SYD, QF21/22 on 7 April 14/18 Apr 14. Found seats already allocated for self and wife. 23AB on QF21 and 23JK on QF22.

Looked at the QF seat selection map to find row 23 is in J, 2 3 2 config. Checked seatguru to find row 23 in J in some 747 versions and doesn't exist in other versions. No row 23in PE cabin.

Any ideas what is happening here?

You have yourself a seat in the J section likely with PE service. It happens on routes like this.

Seatguru gives row 23 a mixed review due to proximity of galley and toilets. Would row 24 or 25 be a better choice?

Hi All,
Travelling with the kids in Business Class on QF476 on the 14th PER to MEL. Does anyone know if QF are using A330-200 with Skybeds on these services or should I expect the standard A330-200 domestic seat??
Thanks!

The current seat map is for a domestic config.

Damn!!!
Came over using up last of my Velocity points to fly in Row 1 so was hoping to get the Skybed on the way back... never know I guess, there could always be an eq. change. Thanks for the reply, I checked the flight and there were three seat maps - one INTL cfg and two DOM. I'd heard it varies.:)

Just taken another look at MMB for QF21 (23AB) and QF22 (23JK). The seats were allocated by QF immediately after making PE bookings. Both of these pairs are bassinet positions on the bulkhead.

On QF21 seat 23J has been allocated with bassinet use, and on QF22 seat 23B has been allocated for a bassinet.

My question is, and I think I already know the answer :(. If another bassinet seat is required will we be bumped.

Would it be better to change seats now? In MMB on QF21 24AB, 25AB, 26AB and 26JK are shown as available to me (PE seats not shown, nor upper deck seats).
On QF22 there are no window pairs, or PE seats or upper deck seats shown as available to me. 23,24,25 DEF are available, but given there is a bassinet at 23B, 25EF, would seem to be the best bet?

Appreciate anyone with EF able to check on upper deck seats, although I probably won't have enough status for access there.

14/4 for QF21 upper deck shows exit rows blocked and only two seat taken

18/4 for QF22 upper deck shows exit rows blocked and all other seats free

Being a WP you should be free to select......are these the dates you are flying?
