>>>> ADDED 30 Sept 2010 <<<<

Background to this thread:

In a similar vein to the "Flight Availability / Upgrade Probability Help Desk" there has an increase in the posting of questions about specific seat allocation/availability on a flight. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with such queries. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.

This new consolidated thread is where you can ask questions about seating allocation/availability. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve usability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread:

Please post questions about availability of specific seats in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, Origin, Destination, date and cabin as applicable.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Oh, really? I did not realise this.

I'll jump on and change it soon, though I might see if I get any others who value row 14 more!

Thanks.

Hi, looking at flying either QF1 or QF9 SYD/MEL - LHR on 6.09.14 (and return QF2 26.0914).

Can someone help with loadings? Am looking to at booking Y and using points in the lottery to upgrade to J (for family of 4). My guess would be QF9 would be less popular than QF1 for J pax?

Thanks.

Thanks Oatek.

Just to confirm I am reading it right, remaining seats are QF1 8 First, 18 Biz, 15 Y+ and 54 Y, while QF9 is 14 First, 24 Biz, 15 Y+ and 58 Y, so QF9 has a better chance of upgrades coming though (at this point).

Cheers

Not quite. QF1 has at least 9 unallocated in F on the seat map, and more than 9 in J. With QF when they say J9, it means at least nine, but could be more. And adding JDIC together wont necessarily get you to the total number of sleeps, as the discount seats are a subset of J. Looking at seat map there are F9 and J40 unallocated/blocked at this stage. So a far bit of availability.

Should have said similar story for QF9, with F11 seats blocked but not allocated, and J38 seats unallocated/blocked.

OK, so while there is more D availability on QF9, there is currently 2 less total JDIC unallocated (so possibly less again available for sale), but either way, within a few seats they are pretty even at this point.

I guess it is too early to say whether the re-timed QF9 gets higher or lower loadings in general than the afternoon QF1?

As an aside, can someone give me the upper deck Y seating availability for QF1 & QF9 on 06.09.2014.

Cheers.

Thanks Oatek. Not looking good then for a family of 4.

You could probably get a centre set of 4 in upstairs Y, but only standard seats, no extra leg room seats except the bassinet row 32 (if you qualify). From memory the centre 4 of rows 32 (DEFG) and 33 (DEFG) were blocked but not allocated, so as WP you should be able to get those if you had no leg room issues.

Thanks for all your help Oatek! I signed up for the 5 day trial of EF this morning so I can have a play.

Not a problem. I get 250 EF searches a month on my subscription, and never use them all up, so don't mind helping a few others when I can.

I'm keen to hear views on this one: I'll be on QF846 SYD-DRW on Wednesday night in Y. It's a B737-8. At T-80 the best I could do was 5C. However, 14C (exit row) is available. As a PS I think row 4 is unlikely. My thinking in taking 5C is that the flight lands at 2350 and with only carry-on I'll be on my way home to bed sooner. But should I go with the extra leg room for the 4:30 sector at night?

Take the exit now, but don't give up on row 4 ...

Is over 240 minutes so a long time with restricted leg room.

Doesn't always work out this way but I was in 18D on what was a relatively full BNE-SYD flight on Friday evening. It took 4 minutes to get out to aerobridge from the time business class passengers started disembarking. I have been on flights where it has taken longer.

I hate being that far back in the cabin but those 4 minutes are not the end of the world either.
