Background to this thread:

In a similar vein to the "Flight Availability / Upgrade Probability Help Desk" there has an increase in the posting of questions about specific seat allocation/availability on a flight. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with such queries. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.

This new consolidated thread is where you can ask questions about seating allocation/availability. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve usability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread:

Please post questions about availability of specific seats in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, Origin, Destination, date and cabin as applicable.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Just taken another look at MMB for QF21 (23AB) and QF22 (23JK). The seats were allocated by QF immediately after making PE bookings. Both of these pairs are bassinet positions on the bulkhead.

On QF21 seat 23J has been allocated with bassinet use, and on QF22 seat 23B has been allocated for a bassinet.

My question is, and I think I already know the answer :(. If another bassinet seat is required will we be bumped.

Would it be better to change seats now? In MMB on QF21 24AB, 25AB, 26AB and 26JK are shown as available to me (PE seats not shown, nor upper deck seats).
On QF22 there are no window pairs, or PE seats or upper deck seats shown as available to me. 23,24,25 DEF are available, but given there is a bassinet at 23B, 25EF, would seem to be the best bet?

Appreciate anyone with EF able to check on upper deck seats, although I probably won't have enough status for access there.

EF seat map showing rows 17 + 18 (A/B, J/K) not allocated in upper deck J both ways, but clearly designated business.

As for PE, QF21 SYD-NRT on 7/4 shows pairs free at 23, 24 & 25 (A/B) and 25 J/K.

But QF22 NRT-SYD on 18/4 show no pairs free.

14/4 for QF21 upper deck shows exit rows blocked and only two seat taken

18/4 for QF22 upper deck shows exit rows blocked and all other seats free

Being a WP you should be free to select......are these the dates you are flying?

Thanks amaroo, QF21 on 7/4 and QF22 on 18/4.

Oops...

7/4 QF21 upper deck shows exit rows blocked 11A/B & 12J taken.....all others are open.

Are you J or PE? EF shows the upper deck for both flights as J

If you're J head down stairs to the front....it shows as an old F cabin

OK, thanks for that. I wonder if I rang the WP desk and asked them to change us to U/D whether they would, since I only booked PE seats. I don't suppose we got op-up due to PE being full this far out.

Can I get some help and advice? We are flying AKL-SYD-NRT departing 1 Feb 14 and returning 7 Feb. Flights QF8763, QF21, QF22, QF8764. On the qantas seat map I can see the EK flights and select seats, but not on the QF flights.
We are flying Y. Any suggestions for good seat? On seat guru 38 A, B, C look good. Is this a solid bulkhead with a foot cutout, or just a solid bulkhead ( we are both over 188cm, so legroom appreciated)
Are there seats in front of 39J-K? It looks like these are crew rear facing seats for take off/landing?
thanks

Not sure how to post on this thread so here goes: We will be on an Air New Zealand 777-300 LAX-AKL-LAX next February. I would like to book a set of the paired seats but cannot figure out the leg room and alignment of the ones to the rear of the plane. Row 35 is close to a bassinet row and row 58 appears to be aligned with row 57. Anyone had any experience with those seats? Thanks.

Looking to decide which routing to WLG later on in July.

Can someone tell me what configuration of 332 are operating the following

QF568 PER-SYD 25th July
QF648 PER-MEL 25th July
QF583 SYD-PER 28th July
QF653 MEL-PER 28th July

The flights are all relative in cost and in timing wise (they all connect to a 737, so no advantage there). Would I be right in suggesting that MEL is the better connection out of the two. I only have access to the J-Lounge internationally, so it is much of a muchness there.

They all seem to be 330-200 30J/199Y, so angle lie flat.

I know seating is personal opinion, would you choose on 380 seat 11b or 12b. I don't know if noise or traffic to bar is too close to seat 11b. Thanks

11 or 12 is all good. its called Emerald city on the A380. Platinum only. Row 13 sometimes given to Gold pax. Its very quiet up front. in my opinion no difference. The bar is hardly used and the lounge on the far right is seldom used and quiet too.

Though on one flight I had 12b and the top half of the seat was horizontal but the bottom half angled to the floor.
This is a problem with all Skybed MkII

Im sure they fixed it by now. If you look at my posts here on AFF you will find the actual A380 which had this prob.

Re: The totally off-topic thread

On Qantas domestic PER-SYD and vv in J, is the A330-300 better or worse than the A330-200. Or are the seats very much the same?

Thanks!

QF 330 seating

In Business with the 333 you are guaranteed a Skybed.

With the 332 it may be a Skybed or it's more likely one of the squishier non flat cradle configurations.

As Serfty has noted, the 333 is a Skybed with no lottery involved. Just make sure that the 333 doesn't turn into a 332 which can happen.

Is 4A on the intl 332 missing a window? Seat Guru seems to suggest so so just wanting to check.

Thanks!

Next question- is, or why is, row 5 better than the upstairs exit row (think row 15?) on the 747s that will be doing the HKG run after the a380 is cut (i.e. no first class)?

Another way of asking the same Q- what are the pros and cons of both, assuming I'm travelling by myself and don't necessarily want to engage any fellow travellers in conversation on the flight?

Row 5 is super for solo travelers, plus better storage than 14.

May I ask what makes it so much better though, apart from the storage?

Being from PER my experience on QF 747s is limited to the early 90s, when we used to have international flights ;)

I was under the impression that the upper deck was the place to be on these planes, as it is quieter and more private?
