Background to this thread:

In a similar vein to the "Flight Availability / Upgrade Probability Help Desk" there has an increase in the posting of questions about specific seat allocation/availability on a flight. These are all valid questions and we all appreciate the efforts our members go to to provide answers.

The only drawback is that our forums can become "cluttered" with such queries. This tends to reduce the overall usability of our site.

This new consolidated thread is where you can ask questions about seating allocation/availability. Hopefully, this will reduce clutter and improve usability.

Guidelines for posting in this thread:

Please post questions about availability of specific seats in this new consolidated thread. Be sure to include the airline, flight number, Origin, Destination, date and cabin as applicable.

When answering questions, please include the original question. This will assist in readability and management of the thread.

Re: QANTAS A380-800 36J & 36K Sydney to Heathrow

I don't know if this is the right place, or if this question has been asked before. Apologies if wrong on both counts!

Is there a way to say seat availabilty on various airlines, other than keep entering new dates over and over and waiting for the screen to refresh.

I am trying to see seat availability, and pricing for SIA's new Premium Economy from Singapore to London and back in September/October. The SIA website is driving me crazy. Apparently PE starts later in August to London. I have an idea to go LCC to Singapore and then PE for the long haul night flight.

Wrong thread (you'd probably be better asking mods to move this to the Singapore Airlines forum)... however... launch specials for SQ's premium economy class are SGD2438 exSIN to London. For SGD200 more you can fly full business class (with flat beds) on Sri Lankan.

Im on QF 25 in a few months time. All year the seat map has been showing J MK2 for my flight. If it does get swapped to MK1, at what time does the seating get changed? Im conscios if it does get subbed ill need to do everything I can to get an old F seat!

If you choose a seat that is available on both configs, generally speaking, if it does get subbed, you'll still keep the same seat.

Sorry about posting in the wrong thread. Thank you for the info on pricing. Bit too expensive for me. Guess it's back to Cattle.

Re: Unable to select seat on Qantas website (SYD-JFK)

Not so much a helpdesk question as it is what it is, but other views would be interesting. Basically, I think this seat map is insane. Why are people selected in 5E, 6E and 7E. Are they stupid or just plain mean? Unless they've moved a couple into D/E seats and upgraded me, this could be a bad flight.

Edit: Turns out my E seat buddy was extremely easy on the eye. I'd guess a model if my life depended on it. Nevertheless, the thought of arm touching with one of the beautiful people did not stop me from moving back a row when the ABC seats did a no show.

I am on QF128 tonight HKG-SYD and I could have I had 5J allocated. I even selected a meal the other night and didn't notice any changes.

Just arrived in HKG to find I am now in 4E and 5J does not exist. Flight is full. School holidays?

Serves me right for not checking more closely.

This is an old config with First class. So 4E is great.

PE SEAT 37 Qantas 63 SYD JNB any comments

Just booked for South Sfrica on Qantas big special for feb 18 and seats selling fast. Has choice of 34 or 37 to get window (my pref) but looks like bulkhead behind, though seat guru didn't give a caution? 34 looks like bulkhead in front but also close to galley which was very noisy coming back last time. Anyone give any advice while still bit of choice?

Re: ALL QF's 330's to get lay flat Business seating - Including Domestic

Sorry for not reading the entire thread, but I just booked MEL-PER-MEL flights for the AFL finals. Are these flights the new business class? I'm happy to burn my points for an upgrade but only into the new business seats. Booked on QF485 on 26/9/15m and QF776 on 27/9/15.

Is there a way of looking at the seatmap to work out the seat configuration?

Look at www.expertflyer.com which shows both your flights having the old JQ config of AB DF JK with the middle seat blocked with the table/workstation.

If it was me I would save my points for real J.

Hi pksw

At the moment, the seat maps indicate (for both flights) that they're the old configuration (business class with a workspace in between the middle block of seats). One of EBO/P/Q/R.

This can change anytime however up until departure. On the plus side though, if this holds, at least you'll have a PTV back in Y.

Re: ALL QF's 330's to get lay flat Business seating - Including Domestic

Thanks Oz and Wenglock for your help. Would have been nice to experience the new J seats but at least I'm not on the red eye so really doesn't matter.

Yes, it's a 4 class. Good thing you got 4E, other J seats are MKI.

To be honest 4E was not that great. I was not too impressed with the seat at all. And I have done the old MKI Skybed a few times and that was a much better experience. Anyway it is good to try it out to form my own opinion.

I was curious why I was chosen to sit in First Cabin? Sure I am Platinum but according to a few on AFF my PCV is low. So how do they choose who gets moved? Is it those that do not have a seat number in the new config such as my 5J? And I was also only on an award.

So my curiosity got the better of me and I spent 5-10 minutes studying the passenger manifest as it was just left hanging up in the galley which was not staffed for the majority of the flight.

Out of the 14 seats in the First Cabin there were 2 FFPO, 10 FFPL, 1 FFGD and a SAPH. This was the one that totally stumped me which forms part of my questions above.

For the rest of the of the business cabin I did not take detailed notes but there were at least 2 FFPO that appeared to be solo travellers. So why where weren't they moved to First cabin? Does not make sense to me unless they were in lower cabin and moved up to business? There at least 10 FFPL and the rest FFGD and FFSL and there may have been a Bronze as well.

I am not sure if that list had the PCV on it and the galley was quite dark and I did not want to attract any more attention than was necessary.
