Singapore QF/BA lounge new changes

Exciting. I'll be visiting the lounge on April 1st. Hopefully with the new arrangement the F lounge won't be crowded like last time I was there (January this year, had trouble finding empty seats...).

On a side note, before the lounge reopen on the 31st, any idea whether WPs (or SGs) can bring in a guest into any of the lounge?

March 31 is the magic day where QF tries out the 'middle east experiment', so it makes sense that all other 'enhancements' start on this day also.

I shall pine for the days before we only had 4 days a week of real F into Asia, as I fly one of the last SYD-SIN-LHR in F on the 27th, and return on CX via my preferred part of the world.
I too am on one of the very last services thru SIN from LHR towards the end of the month. The cabin crew I spoke to on the way over were lamenting the change, and were not at all keen on transiting or staying in Dubai.

I guess SIN or HKG are great places to overnight in. I've not been to DXB, but I know which of the three locations i'd rather spend an evening in.

I wonder how many of them have actually been to Dubai...ok it clearly is different to Singapore but that doesn't make it any worse and there are plenty of worse places to be...

I know with the often oppressive heat that DXB has, it's certainly not fun for a lot of people though. Also, the cultural differences along with their policy on homosexuality, and heck even public displays of affection, it's not a place I have much desire to visit. They also have many items that are available here over-the-counter from a pharmac_ that are banned with severe punishments in place for possession of them there.

Not to say that it's not an interesting place to be, but it's not for me.

Apart from public displays of affection how is that much different to Singapore? Singapore oppressive heat and humidity. Tick. Homosexuality illegal. Tick. Common over the counter drugs banned. Tick. (actually you need to check EVERY country you travel to as many countries are not as liberal as Australia in this regards, but guess you only heard that about the UAE because people on here in particular are looking for downsides to nit pick Qantas' decision to transit UAE) Severe punishment for something as simple as chewing gum. Tick. Boring. Tick.

Bottom line is every country has pluses and minuses. You don't like the UEA, fine, many don't like Singapore either, me being one, I reckon it is boring as bat poop after the first few visits. For staff working for Qantas they are paid to be there, it is not a holiday. In my work I am in the same situation, I get to go to places I wouldn't choose to go to as a holiday, but I go because it is my job. Oddly though most places I have had a negative view of before going it generally changes after I have actually visited.

While we are here... do people get fined for jaywalking in Dubai?

What F lounge, its gone, with a F section being put in place inside the renovated J lounge?

Yes, I meant the F section inside the renovated J lounge. I guess without the flights to/from Europe, it won't be as crowded...

Depends what happens with the BA crowd......still 3 flights selling 42 F seats a day......drops down to 38 in a couple of days.

Hopefully they'll build a new FC lounge.......probably with no access for OWE.

They cannot really do that, unless they call it a Concorde lounge but still provide the equivalent lounge.

Anything is possible. 12 months ago - how many would have thought QF passengers would be scoffing the good stuff in a EK lounge?

By the way, has QF actually confirmed there will be an F section in SIN, or is this still just hearsay?

Are there any F seats on flights to Singapore anyway? They'll only need an F lounge for WP flyers.

Not after 30th March unless sold as a BA Code share

Hard work today with the station boss talking to a foreman about progress as I walked past.

Lets hope so as I for one would not object to seeing the mew lounge
I am flying via SIN mid-April and beginning of May.

The mid-April visit is way too early in morning with an overnight transit in the airport. It will be interesting to see the improvements.

Its been confirmed there will be internal differentiations in service according to an interview with Mr Hickey I read, as in sit down dining for F etc.

I don't think he was that specific, but will wait with baited breath for further 'enhancements'... ;)
