Right. Forked out for J seats and strived to get platinum and no benefit in a good lounge. Enuf of this "all are equal" rubbish. Where's the fun in that?

LOL! :p

My sympathies for putting up with us plebs, please allow us this one little pleasure?

Look on the bright side, at least you weren't travelling F

Anyways, I'm a pleb. My husband isn't so much:). I traded his points for J seats. ;).

It's nice that we share the same goals in life, good luck to us both!

(Apr 30 2013 clock for me, u?)

I'll make it in June, Dec 2013 clock. Should be pushing close to the 1400 mark by then too hopefully...such a pain doing status runs from ISA.

My friend and I are travelling SIN-SYD in BA F next month. For someone who travels for mainly for leisure, F is just that extra bit special. And while BA will have an 'enhanced' F lounge, it seems QF will have the superior lounge. However, with no separate area for First Class pax (or Platinum's/P1's etc) there's really no extra benefits. I think the key will be to leave the lounge before boarding is called to ensure max time in 2A.

Will BA have an enhanced F Lounge?
IIRC they have taken over the former F Lounge and are operating a J/F lounge there.

From AusBT on 27MAR13

But don't expect anything new from the lounge itself, which won't even carry a British Airways Galleries or Terrace lounge brand – travellers will see the same familiar design and layout as its BA/QF First Class incarnation."Apart from signage there will be no change to it" the BA spokesman said, although citing that "the lounge has a contemporary Zen look and feel."

New lounge looks nice enough. Decor is good. The roof - well if it kind of remains like that, so be it. I know it looks industrial, unfinished, and sort of LHR T5....

In a way, looks almost like some very fancy-schmancy Singaporean hawker food mall. Communal tables - pretty normal (and more genteel than multiple small round tables, which would really rub in the canteen look and would actually be logistically difficult).

If I recall, the SIN lounge is supposed to be more Spice Temple than Rockpool

Looking forward to trying it tomorrow, will let you know how I find it on friday after I land back in SYD, unless I feel motivated enough to post while there.

I don't think the lounge will be open early in the morning on my next visit. Hoping to see it on the way back in 3 weeks time.

Platinum One perks

The Qantas Singapore Lounge replaces the separate First and Business class lounges operated by Qantas and British Airways under their now-defunct joint venture. But there will still be a few perks reserved for those sitting at the top of the frequent flyer food chain.Platinum One members of Qantas Frequent Flyer scheme will be offered shirt pressing and a shoe shine, and also have first dibs at reserving one of the 20 shower suites.(That could come in handy if the lounge ever approaches its capacity of 460 guests.)Members of the Qantas Chairman's Lounge will find three showers reserved for their use, each with complementary packs of Payot skincare products and even DIY manicure kits.

The finishing touches..

Other creature comforts include 80-inch flatscreen TVs, fast and free wi-fi and plenty of AC powerpoints and USB ports scattered throughout the lounge. The Qantas Singapore Lounge will open daily from 2.30pm to 11pm. The wide-ranging access policy covers

  • Qantas business class passengers
  • business class and first class travellers on oneworld partner airlines
  • Qantas Frequent Flyer Gold, Platinum and Platinum One members travelling on Qantas, Emirates, Jetstar or a oneworld partner airline
  • oneworld Emerald and Sapphire members booked on a oneworld operated and marketed flight
  • Qantas Club members flying on Qantas, Emirates or Jetstar
