Hey Red Roo - thanks for the pics. Can you confirm or otherwise polished concrete floors and ceilings with exposed plumbing etc, as speculated (and apparently picced) here earlier?

Cheers

Red Roo,

I will be there about 6pm, once I get off the flight from KUL and transfer terminals, so might see you there.

It looks fantastic. Lots of pics from AUSBT on twitter. Gotta find a reason to get to SIN. Just a shame QF couldn't persuade SIN to change that ugly carpet 'outside' the lounge! Gives me a migrane every time!!!

Hope you have the opportunity to experience the new Qantas Singapore Lounge for yourself. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts.

The polished concrete and partially exposed ceiling are features of the new contemporary design of the Qantas Singapore Lounge.

Look forward to trying it out in two weeks time!

Thanks for the photos.

In the new lounge at the moment and all I can say is amazing, it is very well done with a nice welcome to the lounge and a guided tour to how the different sections and lots f people making sure you are looked after and feed, I had to pause in posting this as they were bringing around little cones of chips, very nice.

I don't know if it is any bigger then the old one, but it definitely feels like it and there is a lot more openness and natural light coming it, at this time of the day anyway.

There appears to be a to more seating and more power points for recharging devices as well, compared to what I recall of my last trip to the lounge here which was over 6 months ago, it is also more organised and has a lot more seating then the BA lounge.

It'll be interesting to see which of the oneworld lounges - QF's new lounge, the wiped-over BA lounge or the Skyview lounge - shines the most in SIN now.

Skyview has one technically outstanding feature - it is open 24 hours.

When QF designed this lounge, how much traffic do you think they were thinking of?
  • QF only traffic
  • QF + JQ + 3K traffic
  • All possible traffic (inc. oneworld partners flights)

Begs to reason if people didn't like the old lounge so much why was it so crowded? Because it was too small with all the non-AFFers who didn't know there was a better lounge, albeit about 10 minutes walk away and even further from the relevant gates?

Just thinking there may be some reports of crowding a few months into the lounge launch. You'd think that without 2 A380s (and soon one less B747 onwards to FRA) passing through it, it may mitigate this chance...

Please let it be so.

Have not seen it mentioned but there are twenty showers!

Certainly impressed about that shower count.. & the lounge capacity of 460 ? passengers.. Wow..Though would have been nice to have those lounge environs over the past 5 years or so.

Is it 20 showers less 3 for CLs and possibly a few less due to the ability for P1s to lock ahead a shower?

I know that they say the CL bathrooms will have Payot (and perhaps Kevin Murphy) in them; I wonder what the rest will have? If it's the recent Jurlique, I guess that ain't so bad. Can't put a finger on Molton Brown, but I think QF (and even BA, unfortunately) have moved on. Just hope it isn't Kim Clark hospital grade disinfectant.

Hope that's enough showers. And decent ones at that.

I must say, the photos look amazing, a huge difference from when I last travelled through, and a shame my next trip I'll probably miss it (though I hear DXB isn't that bad either ;))

Personal thoughts, from the fit out and the capacity, they're clearly not losing any focus on Asia and it'll hopefully be a "watch this space", as they want customers, and lots of them!

QF will probably make more money charging BA for lounge access than they will from flights;) Can't see many passengers on those BA flights wanting to say in their lounge.....much speculation over on FT that BA will soon close & update.

After seeing the EK lounge first hand last week....I can see many EK passengers turning up too.

Yes there are 20 showers, from a quick look, and the toilets are in the same spot, and look unchanged, not that they needed much anyway.

The food is excellent and service for the cooked food was fast and efficeient.

It did get quite busy tonight while I was sitting here as it is coming up to the flight arrival and epature time, but I didn't see any issue with over crowding, there were still quite a few spare seats around and plenty of food and drink on hand from wht I withnessed. Staff were very frinedly and everything was cleaned up quickly so that the turn over on tables in the dining are was quick and efficeint without being rushed.

I know it is opening day so probably more staff on hand but everything is running smoothly, it wil beinteresting to revisit in a few months time to se if it keeps up the standard set on te first day.
