SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Call up and ask if you can have it. You might be moved if there is a baby come flight day.

Done. That was an amazing experience. Rang the syd number, entered my pin and went straight through to SQ agent. Told her I preferred 2A and she was happy to allocate the seat to me (albeit based on no bassinet seat required on the day). Confirmation email received within a minute.

Head spin. :D

That QF fiasco re not checking in prior to departure ex LAX some time back should be a salutary lesson to ALL pax travelling on ALL airlines! So YES at all times OLCI or indeed as I always do via SMS.

2A on ALL 777s is indeed blocked from online selection - BUT - in fact it is NOT the bassinet seat - 1A is the bassinet seat as all bassinets needs must be suspended from a bulkhead - if you want 2A just call and they will allocate to you with no danger of you requiring to be moved for a baby.

I have raised this matter with SQ Feedback on a number of occasions - they acknowledge the seating map discrepancy but it has not changed in years - go figure.

Read this after the fact. Good to know I won't be moved, although her dialogue was definitely based on 2A being the bassinet seat - "if the bassinet is required, you will be moved to any other available seat, and you may not have a choice..."

She I assume was KF agent you just spoke to? She can see an identical seat map that you can see online - trust me KF agent has never been in 777F cabin - go with me on this one rob.

Based on what I've read, I think I would very much enjoy going with you on this :) . Yes, it was the KF agent.

Talking about "going with you", has anyone ever thought about a AFF get-together on a scheduled SQ to say SIN? Just thinking out loud (or loudly).

Keep thinking my friend - I have actually loosely discussed this with penegal once or twice - I had another thought recently about organising a SQ F/J run Oz-SIN-HKG and hooking up with the HKG Lounge run group - is this worth pursuing?

I've thought about this with mates but sq doesn't work as well as EK in my mind. Ie onboard bar shared with F/J better bet!
I am more than happy to fly anybody as long as it is on pts.

My thoughts with SQ was to firstly sort out dates - maybe grab 1 or 2 who want to make up the party - book F Savers early either out of MEL or SYD to SIN and enjoy a few drinks in SKL F pre dep - o/n in SIN with a an arr and dep visit to TPR involved then fly to HKG to meet the rest of the HKG Lounge Crawl team. If stars align that will be my plan in 2017.

BUT - if suitable alt EK flts work happy to look at it.

I suspect I know the answer to this already but, when in doubt.......
I have friends arriving into SYD with SQ, can they access the KF lounge on arrival if SYD is their final destination?

Nope, because they are arrivals and the lounges are in departures.

If you are thinking of the June long weekend Asian lounge meet, it is held in a different airport each year. The 2017 location is still to be determined.

It is all quite yummy as I don't have this one at home. I just have it between 12 and 20 times a year onboard SQ in Suites.
