SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Situation: Live Brisbane-ish - have 11am-ish flight out of SYD SQ Suites. Do you arrive into SYD the night before or the morning of? If the morning of how much time do you give yourself?

In my opinion ~3 hours is plenty of time. Sometimes even less.

Early September depart BNE 6:00am arrive SYD 7:35am and international departure from SYD at 10:15am. Should leave me an hour or so in First lounge after dad brings over golf clubs and luggage and takes me to international terminal.

I assume you were asking about the optimal time to be spent in SQ F lounge.

I'd say 1hr is more than sufficient.

Ask the server / waiter for optional hot foods hidden in the kitchen.

I was offered Laksa after sitting down not taking anything from the hot foods buffet [not on any menu].

Personally, I'd be bored after 1 hr in there.

I'd be allowing two to three hours total time for the transit. gives you time in case of delays, plus any queues at immigration etc. lounge itself... an hour is fine.

Actually no I'm coming from the point of view of flight delays and not making the flight. 30min-1hr lounge time would be fine by us.

Thanks for the answers everyone.

In SQ lounge AMS just about to jump on A350 (delivered Jun 16 according to fight radar) - will give a quick TR at SIN
Schiphol a bit of a shambles - very busy - 30 mins from arrival at check-in to lounge

Nice view of aircraft on apron but the AMS SQ lounge just seems a little too plain and a bit waiting-roomish imo which is a pity for such a major air hub.

J check-in - a reasonable queue but all down in 10 minutes.
Didn't take any photos of security or passport - didn't want to get shot!

WHATS WITH MY MAC??? Upside down photos

My son tried the Dom, the Krug NV and the PH Rare.....he preferred the Krug and the port on his Suites rides with TPR visit in Changi today.

Everyone has different taste buds. My son's girlfriend had a different view of the champagnes also. She had to fly home on an earlier Suites ride as she has a new job.

I just use Moet at home and reserve Krug for my SQ flights. That works nicely for me and I drink Mrscove's share as she is a non starter.

Agree 100% with this ranking - PF Rare is superior to Krug IMHO - but to say Dom right down the bottom? 3rd ranked YES - but I could never describe Dom as being right down the bottom of any list.

Well its at the bottom of that list of three. To be honest, I'm just not a fan with it. There are many cheaper champagnes I would choose over Dom in a heartbeat.

Lisa and I had Dom for our wedding (quite a few years ago) and we weren't that impressed and still to this day remain untaken by it. Certainly drinkable, but we prefer others. In fact I even prefer a non-vintage Moët over a vintage Dom. I like Moët as it's not too expensive and easily bought. I actually prefer our home grown Bay of Fires, House of Arras grand vintage better than either of the two mentioned above and it can be bought for marginally more than the non-vintage Moët and if you don't mind a Rosé, I'd certainly recommend the Hose of Arras offering).......but that's likely to be just me (as quaffing is my middle name)! ;)

Now I know where all the (O) had disappeared to !

I sometimes wonder if people really like something, or just like it because its expensive. I once commented to a friend how hideous some designer brand was and her response was "but its worth a lot of money!". Doesnt make it good.
Not suggesting that some people dont legitimately enjoy the Dom; I just dont find that the taste matches the price tag. Why spend over $200 on a bottle, when I can spend $60 on something far more enjoyable.
