SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

hummeldinger - IMHO - certainly do not cancel SIN-MEL J just in case R WL does nor confirm. Call KF and ask them to add the R sector WL to your existing booking - TBH I do not know if you need the pts in your acc or not as I have never done this - if you do you then YES you will need to transfer them in.

If your R WL clears and you want to sub that for existing J rdpt then YES you will pay F rates for entire trip.

If you want you can pm me some details and I will get Mia to look at it for you - she is a work in progress so I want to give her a few tasks to see how good she is. Or just call and do it yourself then you know exactly how you are placed.

I was in TPR just on 12 months ago and still remember how good the Champagne was. This morning I received an email from Cru Bar in Brisbane who have magnums of the 1998 Piper Heidsieck.

Can anyone help me with what vintage the TPR would have been serving in November 2015?

1998 Piper Heidsieck Rare Magnum

In 1811 when Charles-Henri Heidsieck rode his white stallion into Moscow ahead of Napoleon’s advancing army to sell Champagne to the fleeing Russians, and later to the victorious French, a legend was born. In this tradition of grand statements and French savoir-faire Piper Heidsieck Rare was born. This is the absolute pinnacle of Piper Heidsieck.

The 1998 vintage in Champagne was one of the most celebrated in recent history, and this great wine has rested in ancient cellars, slowly maturing in magnum since. You do not want to miss out on this release.

Extremely Limited

To the eye:
A sparkling shine on a green background or where changing fine and distinguished bubbles.

Nose:
An elegant first touch of sandalwood and cedar leaves room for a more generous and greedy bunch of gingerbread, orange blossom, apricot and dried. The final is expanding meringue, cocoa, licorice and ended on a more subtle tone and complex undergrowth, camphor and bergamot.

The palate:
structure is caressing, while duality is constantly sharing between firmness and warmth, or fatty and dry with creamy notes and aromas of cocoa, greengage and mango. The overall impression is that of a wine timeless personality, which engages in all its richness and complexity.

TBMK only vintage ever offered was / is 2002:

I can can understand your enthusiasm - I love PF Rare - as good as Krug, Comtes, Dom, VCLGD are - the Rare does it for me. It is still offered in SIN SKL F - I much prefer it to the PH offered in TPR.

Thanks for that Cruiser. If I thought the 2002 was excellent then the 1998 must have been something special!

How many are you going to take at $699 a magnum? As Cru only had 4 in stock this morning you may have to get in quick. I will pass to let others get the chance!

News from my KF contacts this morning is that there has been a change 'in house' in waitlisting redemption flights.

It is now possible to WL rdpt even of you DO NOT have sufficient KF pts in your account to cover the booking should the WL clear.

If the WL clears you will receive an email and SMS advising same which will also include a 'Ticketing Time Limit' (TTL) as normal. You MUST trasnsfer pts imm and said pts MUST arrive into your KF account prior to expiration TTL to facilitate ticket issuance. If pts not in account TTL will expire and booking will be cancelled.

However - these WLs cannot be done online - you must call KF and their is no 15% disc offered or available for this type of rdpt WL.

ATPIT this change is 'unpublished' - it is a very recent change to booking process and still in trial stage I think - I do not know if all KF agents are totally familiar with this change - hopefully they are. I also do not know if it is a definite long term change to WL procedures - but might help some.

So hummel - if you want to add that F WL sector without transferring pts you should be able to do so - just call up KF with your existing conf Booking Ref and see how you go - but you will still need to pay full F rates for entire itinerary if indeed your F sector WL clears as mixed class rdpts price at highest cabin level in the booking. You will also not be eligible for the 15% disc as it is the 'new type' WL with insufficient pts in KF acc.

I cannot get any more info right now as my girl was actually in Changi awaiting a flt to somewhere for a few days break.

ATPIT this change is 'unpublished' -

Say what? An unpublished benefit?

You're in for an earbashing now bud as there are a number of the very vocal minority here on AFF that say no such thing exists and/or if it does, you're dishonest for attempting to use it! ;) :D

Back on topic, great news!

Did they say how long they give on this part:
TTLs for all WLs that clear vary - Totally unpredictable but it certainly won't be weeks - here are a few examples of WL conf emails where there was sufficient pts in account - 4 day window:
Resize of SQ 1.jpg

3 day window:

1 day window:
View attachment 84273

TTL totally variable - sometimes up to a week but as you can see above many times not - you will need to be nimble - TTL can be extended under extreme circumstances but pls don't quote me on that.

No biggie - SQ devotees are a civilised bunch - nothing like the VA riff raff who are finding their way onto SQ metal by default! But give me time and I'll get that stopped too!

Hello everyone,
I am an SQ newbie here when it comes to redeeming award tickets.

Just want to ask :

Are you allowed to open jaw a return saver J award?
For example, MEL - LHR , MOW - MEL ?
And will stopovers be allowed in SIN in each direction ?

Finally, if i have to call the SQ call centre, it is the Australian number (13 10 11) isn't it ?

Thanks a lot.

If I waitlist a flight does it take the points or could I WL a couple of preferred flights and then book an available flight so something is at least locked in?

They'll get an earbashing and probably more if they are denied this "benefit" and they start posting "SIA hits low point" on the internet.

No pts movt for simply waitlisting (WL) - pts will only be removed from your KF acc if WL clears and you proceed to confirm. finalise and pay for booking. No limit to number of flts you can WL - I have heard some clowns here WL multiple multiple flts from today to infinity - only saying. ;)

Data point. TPR currently serving 1995 CH.
In the interests of truthful and accurate posting let me rephrase that for you JT:

Data Point 1: TP currently serving 1995 CH.
Data Point 2: As AFF Mod I felt my duty to carefully sample and assess 1 glass CH in TPR- or more.
Data Point 3: After intense testing CH in TPR again my duty to transfer to SKL with full glass CH to compare to PH Rare
Data Point 4: I have sidled up to bar in SKL F and Muhammed fully understands my roles and responsibilities as AFF Mod to compare CH 1995 to PH Rare 2002 glass by glass til I can form a definitive opinion I can then convey to fellow AFFers - this could take a while!

Are you allowed to open jaw a return saver J award? YES
For example, MEL - LHR , MOW - MEL ? Better to search for 2 x Saver rdpts.
And will stopovers be allowed in SIN in each direction ? You can add s/o in SIN on ea o/w Saver rdpt for USD100
Finally, if i have to call the SQ call centre, it is the Australian number (13 10 11) isn't it ? NO - call 02 8228 1188 - that is a SYD no. But it diverts straight through to KF in SIN.
See above - I think that should help you get set

Excellent thanks for your help. When(if) one of the better waitlisted flights opens up will it all work out time wise to cancel the booked flight and take the cleared WL?

Data point 5: I am doing MEL-SIN-CAN on Monday... in Y - No TPR for me!
